Teemore Engineering Ltd have always prided themselves in designing and supplying outstanding products. Irish Tractor & Agri caught up with Sales Manager Ray Foy to find out more about the Co Fermanagh-based firm.
These are heady times at Teemore Engineering Ltd. In fact, Sales Manager Ray Foy went as far as to say that 2017 was the company’s “best year on record by far”.
Now, in the early part of 2018, the Co Fermanagh business is looking for more of the same in order to up hold its reputation as one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of livestock housing and handling equipment in Northern Ireland.
Ray has been part of the team at Teemore Engineering for over a decade now and took the time to fill Irish Tractor & Agri in on what they’re all about when we caught up with him recently.
“The company established 45 years and right now we have 40 staff working here,” explained Ray.
“I’m the Sales Manager here and I’ve been working for the company 12 years. The two directors are Victor Wilson and Colin Wilson (father and son).
“Basically what we do is cover all of the UK and Ireland delivering world class livestock housing solutions. The main part of the business is livestock.”
Those 45 years of experience and product knowledge in the industry are what sets Teemore Engineering apart from so many other competitors when it comes to offering customers the best solution for their farm.
The company’s sales team all farm themselves and understand their customers’ needs. Through their network of dealers and main stock yards, they cover all of the UK and Ireland delivering world class livestock housing solutions.
With their head office based along the Fermanagh-Cavan border just outside Derrylin, Teemore Engineering operates its distribution base from the UK in Prees, High Heath, Whitchurch, Shropshire.
One of the company’s UK case studies – listed on its website (www.teemoreengineering.com) – was carried out on a client’s Worchester farm, where he had decided to increase his diary herd from 150 to 280, which created the need to develop a new dairy unit to facilitate the latter figure of a 280 Holstein cow herd.
Tom Goodwin had dealt with Teemore Engineering some years previously, purchasing Jourdain headlocking barriers, and, being very impressed with the service and product quality, he was keen to speak to the company about his then new project which entailed two buildings – one for cow housing and feeding with the other for milking, handling segregation and calving.
Following various site visits and consultation with Tom and his contractors, the shed design was completed with various new products which included 250 Teemore Deluxe cubicles all with Zig zag Neck rail, Jourdain Safety IV Headlocks and Sheeted doors and bungee gates.
Teemore Engineering has for many years been at the forefront of their industry, paving the way for new developments in animal comfort and increasing efficiency, animal comfort and handler safety.
The firm manufactures and supplies product of the highest quality, earning it a reputation for reliability, strength and longevity of product second to none.
Set-up in 1973 by Mr Victor Wilson, a family business with reputation for customer service, the company as grown steadily to become one of the foremost suppliers of livestock equipment.
“From day one our aim was to put the customer first” Mr Wilson is quoted saying on the profile page of the company’s website. “It’s an ethos that has worked for 30 years.
“Our biggest asset is our work force,” Mr Wilson continues, “their skill, dedication and hard work mean we have confidence that what we sell will be the best.”
With a new purpose built production and Storage facility opened in 2011, Teemore Engineering continues to go from strength to strength to this day.
From 2011, things were slow enough to pick up after the new facility’s competition. However, Ray explained that things have had experienced a real turnaround since then and the company is very much relishing the year ahead.
“At the moment it is very good. It was tough there for a few years but 2017 was our best year on record by far,” he said.
“The last two years were a wee bit tougher but, all things considered, things are pretty good here at the minute.”
The Sales Manager outlined that repeat business is a major aspect of the company’s continued success, with clients all over the country continuing to choose them first year in, year out.
“We get a lot of repeat business here,” said Ray. “We cover the markets in Northern Ireland and the south and would so direct sales from Cork all the way up to Belfast.
“I think our customers continue to choose us because of the quality that we give them. The Jourdain products that we have here is out of this world compared to stuff. We are competitive as well and customers get a great service with us.”
Indeed the sales men at Teemore Engineering provide a huge wealth of knowledge when it comes to this industry and the company’s Jourdain and custom made equipment is in everyday use by many of its clientele, proving its strength and reliability.
Looking ahead to the coming months, Ray says the company will be hoping for more of the same as it prepares to take whatever effects of Brexit might have on its business.
“We just want to build on what we’ve done this year. Nobody really knows how Brexit is going to impact us but we’ll keep going through it and hopefully business will be just as positive next year,” he concluded.
So if it’s excellence in livestock housing that you’re looking for, aligned with a five-star service, be sure to contact the sales team at Teemore Engineering to find out how they can help you.
