Mid Antrim Tractors are one of the leading farm machinery exporters in Ireland, selling tractors and handlers worldwide from their base in Ballyclare. Their products can be tailored precisely to their customers needs and are very much in demand according to Export Manager Andrew Mawhinney.
Based in Ballyclare, Co Antrim, Mid Antrim Tractors are a well established supplier of high quality used tractors and handlers.
Set up in 1986 by Randal Nelson, the progressive outfit offer customers plenty of choice and stock a wide range of tractors and machinery from manufacturers such as Case-IH, Claas, Deutz Fahr, JCB, Kramer, Valtra, John Deere, Merlo, Manitou, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, Renault and Same.
The company’s Export manager Andrew Mawhinney – who has been on the payroll of the last two years – elaborates: “We’re not tied to one brand which means we can look after our customers’ needs.
“We have all sorts of tractors here in our yard, generally up on 50 to 60 at any one point. If a client has a particular type of tractor in mind for a specific job, we should be able to look after them.
“We stock good quality used machinery to suit most requirements”
It is this flexible approach that has stood Mid Antrim Tractors in good stead in the past and should sustain them in the future.
Their primary focus is on quality, personal service and attention to detail. Randal Nelson and his team appreciate the importance of customer relations.
“Tractors can be adapted to our customers specific requirements, for example tractors can be fitted with loaders and attachments while front linkages, front PTO Systems and weights etc, can be added or removed depending on their requirements.”
Handlers can even have new pick up hitches fitted should their customers require while tyres can also be changed on any tractor. Mid Antrim Tractors can price new tyres and rims to suit any tractor they have in stock depending on what a customer needs.
As agents for Quicke and Trima, they can supply customers with a New Quicke or Trima loader to suit any tractor that they have in stock.
“We can also fit any tractor that we have in stock with a New Stoll loader.”
Based four miles north of Ballyclare town, Mid Antrim Tractors are approximately 13 miles from the Belfast International Airport, and 17 from George Best City Airport, export is the main focus of the company with sales of tractors.
“Our tractors and handlers can be found in far flung places such as Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and South America,” Andrew proudly says.
“We are only 12 miles from the local ferries in Larne, and 16 miles from the main Belfast train station,” Andrew added.
“We can professionally arrange competitive worldwide delivery for any tractor or machine, to any major seaport or business address and delivery can be arranged via road, sea, air and rail,” Andrew points out.
Mid Antrim tractors also supply all the relevant documentation with the tractor including a UK Registration Certificate / V5 (if available), a Certificate of Origin (if applicable), a ‘Certificate of Inspection and Disinfection’ (if required) and a Certificate of Conformity (subject to availability).
“We have built up knowledge and experience in shipping tractors around the world via container shipment and via roll on roll off,” Andrew adds, “and we actively trade in international currencies i.e. Euros.”
Many businesses were forced to shut their doors during the economic downturn but Mid Antrim Tractors successfully weathered the storm and Andrew is upbeat about their future prospects.
Buying a used tractor from Andrew & Co is a customer friendly experience and they boast plenty of satisfied customers to prove it.
“Business generally picks up this time of year. We’re involved in a competitive market but we strive to provide customers with peace of mind and will send them photographs and information regarding their tractor/order throughout each stage of the process in order to keep them up to date.
“They can also view videos that show our tractors at work on our YouTube channel.
“We’re very fortunate to have a loyal customer base. We get a lot of repeat business, especially in the export market, and the vast majority of our customers use us frequently. They have given us their seal of approval which is very encouraging.
“Experience, reliability and being able to find what someone wants in our yard would be the secrets of the company’s success.”
