Celebrating 25 years in business, Farrell Fencing Products Ltd has recently branched into supplying baled sawdust for dairy cattle, wood shavings for horse and poultry bedding. Dean Farrell explains more.
Farmers can now significantly reduce their animal bedding costs by buying high quality wood shavings and sawdust direct from Farrell Fencing Products in Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone.
From a farming background themselves, the Farrell’s recognise the importance of keeping bedding costs to a minimum while ensuring your stock are housed in a hygienic, dust-free and comfortable environment. Farrell Fencing Products can deliver Grade ‘A’ kiln dried white sawdust, wood shavings direct from their sawmill to your farm in baled form. The animal bedding meets red tractor standards, which means it meets the requirements of the UK’s biggest farm and foods standards scheme, covering animal welfare, food safety, traceability and environmental protection.
“We recognised the need for good quality animal bedding,” Dean Farrell notes.
“The sawdust and shavings are produced in our own sawmill and delivered nationwide. Because we sell direct to the user, we’re able to offer the most competitive prices on the market. Our sawdust is dried down to 10 per cent moisture. There is no MDF or any other recycled material in it,” he assures us.
Farrell Fencing Products supplies white wood sawdust in 20kg bags. There are 66 bags on each pallet. White wood shavings come in 22kg bags on pallets of 36. The company delivers throughout Ireland with its own articulated truck and curtain-side trailer. The bags are waterproof which means they can be stored outdoors.
The high level of dryness of the bedding is reflected in its maximum absorbency and odour-neutralisation performance. Kiln dried shavings are ideal for bedding horses and poultry, while sawdust is more suitable for cattle bedding. Farrell’s baled sawdust is especially popular with dairy farmers who use it to bed their cows in their cubicles.
