Each year Greybridge Classic Club host their Harvest Day is aid of their selected charities, the event has become infamous over the last number of years for their tractor lineouts including Massey Ferguson, Ford and TRACTORS. This year given John Deere are celebrating 50 years in Ireland and the UK, the club are now planning a John Deere Lineout for their 2016 event.
The Harvest Day will take place in Meanus, Co Limerick on Sunday August 7 at this year we are particularly delighted to announce the support of Geary’s Garage of Kilmeeely and Clarecastle and John Deere Ireland/UK for our 2016 event.
There are a number of displays and activities planned for the day, in addition to the main lineout, there will also be a number of static displays including both agricultural and constitution machinery. We will also include our ever popular silage display, and in keeping with the theme we will have John Deere harvesting and bailing equipment, new and old. So club members are on the search for all things John Deere including tractor, machinery and equipment to join us on the day.
A usual the day will also have plenty of activities for the ll the family, with vintage displays, demonstrations from the emergency services, free bouncy castles, penalty shootout competitions, face painting and lots more fun and games.
The Harvest Day is now in its fifth year, and is the clubs major charity event of the year. Events are run throughout the year, which contribute to the coast of the Harvest Day, this enable us to ensure that 100% of the profits made on the day are given directly to the charitable benefactors. To date the club has donated €130,000 to a number of very worthy charities. Amongst our benefactors are: Cliona’s Foundation, Limerick Search & Rescue, Pieta House, Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association, Children’s Ark University Hospital Limerick, Ronald McDonald Houses, Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Milford Hospice and many more.
The event has a vast audiences, people from vintage clubs right around the country, have participated in our events, but as the event has extended we also receive huge support from families and communities right across the Limerick and Cork region. A huge number of people contribute to the success of this event, from landowners, sponsors, other supporting vintage clubs, our own club members and their families and many other supporters and friends not only has it enabled us to contribute a fantastic amount of financial support, but allowed us to develop great friendships with a wide range of charities who do such a fantastic work within our communities.
This year we hope to continue our success to date by raising funds for our very worthy causes which include: Cliona’s Foundation which provides financial assistance to families with critically ill children, St Joseph’s Foundation – Liskenneth House providing support and therapy to people with disabilities and the Breast Services Unit, University Hospital Limerick.
