Zetor arrives at Goff  Agri

10 Apr , 2017

Goff Agri & Plant Sales in Bridgetown, Co. Wexford has added another string to its bow with its recent appointment as a main dealer for the Zetor range of tractors. Managing director Damian Goff explains more.

The appointment by distributors McHale Plant Sales of Birdhill and Rathcoole represents another milestone in the company’s short but successful history. Established by Damian just three years ago with the aim of supplying quality new and used machinery to the farming community throughout Wexford, Goff Agri & Plant Sales has grown to serve a nationwide customer base, offering a wide range of machinery to cater for all agricultural needs and providing a door-to-door delivery service.

The south Wexford dealership joins the Zetor network at a time when the brand – which is celebrating its 70th anniversary – has embarked on a major expansion programme aimed at recapturing its position as one of the top selling tractors on the Irish market. To that end, Goff Agri & Plant Sales represents an all-new Zetor range comprising four models variants – the entry-level Major, the stylish mid-range Proxima and Forterra series and the latest high-powered, heavy duty Crystal.

Damian foresees Zetor’s engagement with legendary Italian car designers Pininfarina – best known from their work with Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and others – having an important influence on the brand’s expansion in Ireland.

“When the Zetor Pininfarina arrives here next year, we expect it to be one of the most stylish tractors on the market,” says Damian, who previously owned the waste management company Goff Recycling, which he sold in 2008, and was involved in tillage farming subsequent to that.

“It’s a challenging environment at the moment, but I’m confident that the brand will appeal to farmers in Wexford and surrounding counties. Zetor has tractors ranging from 80 to 160hp, with the 100 / 110hp Proxima, which starts at €46,000 including VAT, being the best-selling model. There is something for everyone in the Zetor range.”

Zetor compliments the other brands which Goff Agri & Plant Sales represents, including JAC forklifts, Marangon mowers, Acres Machinery, Tecnol Lubricants, Wix Filters, Puma Power Batteries, Tengtools, Quality Tractors Parts Ltd and its own DGM farm loaders brand. Launched in 2014, DGM (Damian Goff Machinery) offer a range of loading shovels to the Irish and UK markets which are built to the highest standards, yet are competitively priced. The loading shovels range from mini three tonnes all the way through to large 20 tonne quarry loaders.

“Our main focus over the past two years has been on selling DGM loaders and getting the brand established,” the affable tractor and farm machinery dealer explains.

“The loaders are manufactured in China to our exact specification. They are assembled by ourselves here in Ireland and sold predominantly to farmers. They are especially popular with dairymen. DGM is a good quality, budget machine which we introduced in response to the challenging economic conditions and the need for customers to get the best out of a machine at the most competitive price.

“The loaders are sold with bucket and pallet fork, while there are various attachments available, including bale handlers, bale shears, shear grabs and dung forks.”

You don’t have to travel all the way to Bridgetown to view or purchase your DGM loader as Alistair Fingleton in Castledermot, Co. Kildare and Colman O’Flynn in Fermoy, Co. Cork are also sales and service representatives for the brand. Damian is actively seeking another dealer to cater for customers in the west of the country.

There is always a huge selection of new machinery in stock at Goff Agri & Plant Sales, ranging from Zetor tractors, Jac forklifts and DGM loaders to cement mixers, transfer augers, fertiliser spreaders, sprayers and mowers. Besides new machinery, the company’s location is ideally suited to importing quality and affordable used farm machinery from the UK via Rosslare Europort.

“While we specialise mainly in new machinery, we also stock some used machinery and can source any machine through our network of reliable contacts in the UK and further afield. We also export trucks and combine harvesters to Eastern Europe from time to time.”

In addition, Goff Agri & Plant Sales stock hardware and spare parts, and has a full sales and service and parts department on its spacious site. The spare parts department carries a wide range of spare parts for tractors and machinery, including filters, bearings, belts, chains, hydraulic hosing and lubricants.

Damian, whose wife Diane has been running the local Centra since 2011, is delighted with the support he has received from the farming community.

“We’ve grown year-on-year, despite the difficult economic climate. We have built up a nationwide customer-base over the past three years through offering a professional service and quality products. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their support and look forward to continuing to deal with them for many more years to come,” he concludes.
