County Tyrone based I.J. Trailerspares Ltd. sources and supplies a full range of reasonably-priced parts for all types of agricultural trailers. We caught up with director Kyle Jobb to take a closer look at this outstanding family operation and the extensive array of products provided.

I.J. Trailerspares Ltd. is a family- run business based equidistant between Omagh, Fintona and Dromore in County Tyrone. Specialising in all trailer parts, for all makes and sizes of trailers, they are renowned for their ability to procure and supply quality products at affordable prices.

The company logo is ‘we supply everything but the steel!’ and the vast range of products provided includes everything from wheels, tyres and axles to stubs, hitches, spring kits, rams, jockey wheels, braking components, body fittings and lots more besides – all of which are available for any trailer type or size.

A vast range of parts is carried at all times and, for any manufacturer or operator looking for a particular trailer part, it should simply be a matter of picking up the phone or browsing the I.J. Trailerspares website … the rest will look after itself! All forms of payment are accepted and rapid delivery ensures that trailer owners do not incur unnecessary delays and subsequent loss of earnings.

By providing products and a service that is 100% customer-focussed, I.J. Trailerspares has quickly developed a reputation as the premier port of call in Tyrone, Ulster and much further field for high-quality trailer parts at the right price – complemented by a superb back-up service.

The business is fronted by the father-and-son team of Ivan and Kyle Jobb, alongside Ivan’s wife Janet, and has been going strong under its current moniker for over five years, gaining in popularity with each passing season…

“We established I.J. Tailerspares in January, 2010, having operated in the same line of work under a different name for two years prior to that,” notes Kyle. “We basically supply a full range of parts for agricultural trailers as well as parts for car trailers and some tractor parts, including tyres. We also sell lubricants, greases, oils etc. Anything a customer could possibly need for a trailer, we will have it here.

“Customers can drop in and purchase the parts over-the-counter, while we also sell a lot of parts over the phone and through the internet. That’s the way the parts business is going and, whatever suits the customer best, we are only too happy to accommodate him. We offer a next-day delivery service nationwide, be it a parcel or a pallet.”

I.J. Trailerspares supplies Knott-Avonride axles for all high-speed trailers up to 3500kg as well as TVZ axles and stubs – braked and unbraked – for agricultural trailers. They also stock a vast range of cables and accessories in addition to Norlube oils and grease.

Lubricants available include engine oil, lawnmower oil, hydraulic oil, gear oil, transmission oil, vacuum pump oil, two-stroke oil and brake fluid and these are typically available in drums from 1l, 5l, 20l and 200l to 1000l. Grease is available in cartridges (400g and 500g screw-in), 12.5kg or 20kg.

All sizes of trailer (and tractor) wheels and tyres are stocked along with a full range of trailer body fittings including drop-lock fasteners, eye plates, lugs, forkets, hinges, brackets, plates and safety tow chains etc.

Braking components (brake shoes and cables) are available for all trailer types in addition to a comprehensive selection of jockey wheels and hitches, lights, detergents and thinners.

“We stock everything,” Kyle continues. “We’d have a lot of different lines for all types and makes of trailers. The main end of the business would be wheels, tyres, brakes and lights for all agriculture and small car trailers. These are sold all over Ireland and we also have customers in England, Scotland and Wales. We’ve even sent some stuff to Australia!”

I.J. Trailerspares has built up and excellent network of suppliers, sourcing and importing high-quality parts from all over the world including China, India, Russia, Germany, Poland, Italy and the UK.

The key to success in this line of business is to strike the right balance between quality and price. Ideally, customers want the best quality at the cheapest possible price and this is what I.J. Trailerspares strives to provide, within reason… “You have to have a balance between the two,” Kyle accepts.” You can’t neglect either quality or price. Obviously, you can’t sell customers poor quality products while, at the same time, you won’t sell anything if the price isn’t right. Customers are very demanding – understandably so – and you have to deliver on both quality and price.

“Some people will tell you that price isn’t everything one you have a quality product but a good price is a fair help when you try to sell something! So we keep our prices as low as possible. Our main customers would be trailer manufacturers themselves and you won’t sell to them unless you are competitive.”

Looking to the future, Kyle is confident that the business can continue to grow: “It’s growing all the time and we want to keep it moving in that direction,” he concludes. “My father has 45 years’ experience of this industry and he has a wealth of expertise of trailer parts.

“We’re also selling Belshina tractor and trailer tyres at very competitive rates now and these are proving to be extremely popular.”

Providing a superb service in a niche market, I.J. Trailerspares is set to expand further over the coming years.
