Drumnakilly Supplies Ltd are an Omagh-based farm supplies company established for over 10 years. A customer driven company first and foremost, their reputation for looking after their client base speaks for itself. We caught up with Managing Director Adrian Cathers to find out more.

Providing outstanding value and service to the agriculture sector, Drumnakilly Supplies Ltd extensive product range includes Tornado wire, fence posts, grass seeds, cattle mats, Himalayan salt, chemicals, bread and biscuit meal and so much more.

In addition, they offer haulage, taking full and part loads to UK and Ireland with their 45ft flatbed trailers and 45ft step frame trailers and bulkers.
Tracing the company’s roots, Managing Director Adrian Cathers reveals it was by accident rather than design that the company came into existence.

“I come from a farming background and then worked as a long distance lorry driver,” he explained to Irish Tractor & Agri, “but I went back to farming to run a herd of suckler cows, breeding for beef. “Then a guy let us down for straw we needed on the family farm. I looked at the Irish Farmers Journal and there were two loads of straw for sale in Dundalk. I bought one for myself and took the other load down to the Omagh mart on a Monday. It was snapped up.

“I progressed from there, selling straw and then took on the Tornado agency for Northern Ireland, continuing to grow the business as we went along to incorporate other product ranges.

“My wife Joanne, who worked for PWC, then joined the company 10 years ago to look after the office and administration end of things and we became a limited company then. She’s the brains of the operation and I’m the beauty!” Adrian quipped.

In the intervening years, Drumnakilly Supplies Ltd have sourced quality products to ensure your buying agricultural supplies that won’t let you down.
They are currently turning a two acre field into a yard, with a 200x100x40ft high shed which can be used for tip bulkers and storage, as well as mixing their own animal feed.

They are proud to supply one of the largest ranges of wire fencing on the market today.  Tornado products include: horse fencing, badger fencing, poultry fencing and deer fencing, as well as a huge range of standard stock fencing products.

They also supply a range of complementary Tornado products including the world famous Centaur Horse fencing, Tarus fencing, barbed wire, staples, and a range of fencing tools and accessories.

In addition to Tornado, Drumnakilly are stockists of renowned brands such as Sinclair McGill (quality seeds and mixes), Silostop (oxygen barrier and forage management products), Erin Farms Feeds and EasyFix (rubber matting) to name but a few.

One product that is very much in demand is Himalayan Pink Rock Salt and the benefits of rock salt are that it stops cattle drinking their urine, helps reduce cud ball, reduces risk of frothy bloat and helps harden the hooves of cattle.

With its delicate pink, rose-like color, Himalayan salt is visually distinctive and prized for its purported nutritional profile as it contains a high number of essential minerals.

The health benefits for humans are also substantial. Himalayan salt is considered healthier than food grade salt because it does not contain any additives or chemicals, and is a naturally occurring substance.

As a result, Adrian & Co have plans to diversify into the natural health market by distributing Himalyan Pink Salt direct to Health Shops.

“We’ve started a new brand and hope it will take off this year,” he outlined.

Offering the highest standard of sales and after-sales is at the core of the business according to Adrian who added the haulage string to the company’s bow six years ago.

They above all try to ensure that every customer they deal with is 100% satisfied and if there is any problem, large or small, they have always tried to resolve it to the best of our ability to the customer’s satisfaction.

“We’re a family-run business and place a big emphasis on offering a personal service. With big firms, customers can be just a number but we provide the personal touch to all our clients. We supply all over Ireland, and also sell some products in England, and we’ve build up a good rapport with a lot of people all over Ireland.”

Ever growing the business, Adrian told us about a couple of new products he is getting in: “We will have new Ecohoof, a germicide which is non-harmful, chlorine and phosphate free, fully biodegradable, non acidic. We will also have Blue Clay and Red Mite, for poulty housing.”

He added: “There are challenges, most notably the ups and downs of the farming industry at the minute, while the new generation want to order online and a lot of contact is done via email nowadays. The older generation is different in that they like to do their business face to face but we are up-to-date with all the latest trends.”

Whatever your needs, and wherever you’re from, Drumnakilly Supplies Limited have all your farm supply requirements covered. They have a long reputation supplying quality products to farmers all over Ireland and, more importantly, they supply products that last.
