Newhouse Farm Services always aim to please

21 Jan , 2016

Using an up to date fleet of tractors and machinery, Newhouse Farm Services are agricultural contractors based in Termonfeckin, Co Louth. Celebrating the milestone of twenty years in business in 2015, Irish Tractor magazine caught up with owner/operator Paul Flynn to find out the secrets of their success.

Although not originally from a farming background, Paul Flynn sowed the seeds for the business after purchasing his first tractor in 1995 and from those humble beginnings he has grown and nurtured a reputation which few of his competitors can equal.

With two decades experience to fall back on, he fully appreciates the importance of providing a prompt and efficient service at highly competitive prices. With weather patterns constantly changing and customers eager to manage their costs, Newhouse Farm Services aim to provide a cost-effective and punctual service to remove any stress from their customers’ farming operations.

“My father actually worked as a transport manager in a local company in Drogheda but I started work with a local contractor before going out on my own,” Paul recalled in conversation with Irish Tractor & Agri magazine, “I started out with an International 956 then added a tillage harvester and I’ve been at it ever since.”

Together with two full-time and two part-time employees, Paul offers an extensive range of contracting solutions to farmers in his native Louth, Meath and Dublin.

To this day the business has matured to offer a whole range of agricultural services and operations to meet the needs of the progressive landowner and farmer.

The comprehensive list of services they provide includes maize sowing under plastic and in the open and harvesting; baling (round and square); grass reseeding aerating; groundwork, ploughing, drilling, seeding, slurry and dung and tillage contracting.

They are large enough to provide an extensive range of agricultural operations but small enough to be flexible.

“We work out of Termonfeckin and cover from Dundalk to Julianstown in as far as Rathkenny in Co Meath.”

A policy of continuous investment in their fleet of modern tractors and up-to-date machinery enables them to satisfy their customers’ requirements at all times.

“We have a lot money tied up in our machinery and it is expensive but we are continuously upgrading and keeping things as fresh as we can. We look after the maintenance end of things ourselves with the exception of any bigger problems that may arise. At the end of the day, you can’t have machinery breaking down in the middle of jobs.”

Newhouse Farm Services fully understand the importance of keeping focussed on set targets. They have a long list of satisfied customers that can vouch for their professionalism.

“Business is thriving and I believe that is down to the fact that we provide a quality and reliable service. There are challenges out there, the cost of machinery, as I already have mentioned, along with problems associated with getting paid on time and the price of diesel rising again amongst others.

“Competition is fierce which also brings its challenges but I’ve been lucky to have loyal customers who have stuck with me from day one. I’ve also successfully managed to attract new customers so, overall, I would be optimistic about the future and would be happy to see things continue the way they have been going of late.

“I’d like to thank all my customers, old and new, for their continued loyalty and I’d also like to thank Mid-Louth Machinery for the top class service we have received off them down through the years.”

Locally, farmers and landowners know they can trust Newhouse Farm Services to get the job done. That’s why they have survived the test of time while others have fallen by the wayside.

Paul and his team pride themselves in taking the time to ensure that the end result is high quality forage for their clients. So, if you are in the market for a professional agricultural contractor in the Louth, Meath or Dublin area, then contact Paul directly on 086 2765215.
