Foulksmills Store has all you need

3 Jun , 2016

Foulksmills Store in Co. Wexford is a one-stop shop for all your agri, building, hardware, DIY and fuel needs. The former co-op has received tremendous support from the local community since it was taken over four years ago by brothers Anthony and Pat Roche.

Foulksmills Store opened its doors on August 29 2011, some eight months after Glanbia had decided to close the premises. For the Roche brothers from Ballyshannon, who had previously worked in Slaney Building Supplies in Clonroche and C&D Providers in Larkin’s Cross respectively, the venture represented a huge gamble as the country was in the depths of recession at the time.

But thanks to the support of the people of the area, and the hard work and dedication of Anthony and Pat, Foulksmills Store has taken off in a big way. Not only has it retained its existing client-base, it has also picked up many new customers by providing a professional, friendly and cost-effective service as well as a centre for all your agri, building, hardware, DIY and fuel requirements.

“We are much more than a farm supplies business,” Anthony points out.

“We’d like to think that our customers can get anything they want under the one roof. We stock everything from calf feeders and drainage pipes to electric power tools and stoves. You name it, we have it.

“We have grown steadily over the past four years and have taken on two full-time staff in Tom Cadogan and Jimmy Moran. Things have gone better than expected and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for the support they have given us. There is a great sense of community spirit in Foulksmills and we have certainly benefited from that.”

Situated in south Co. Wexford, four miles from Wellingtonbridge and between New Ross and Wexford town, Foulksmills Store stocks a huge range of farming products for every need. As an agent for the Maxammon mineral range for dairy, dry cows and beef cattle, Foulksmills Store attracts customers from far beyond the local area. Since its inception in 2010, this enhanced grain feeding system has been a revolution for many livestock farmers and a springboard to develop new feeding concepts within Harbro quality livestock nutrition.

“Maxammon has been very successful for us. It is mixed through grain, thus eliminating the need for buying animal rations. The benefits include increased protein intake and animal performance. It is a much cheaper option in the long run,” Anthony explains.
