Ervine Plant Ltd of Banbridge, Co Down specialises in the sales of excavators, telehandlers and all types of heavy plant and construction machinery. They boast a proven track record, which spans over 30 years, of selling to a wide range of industrial and agricultural companies.
John Ervine and his team of seven employees pride themselves on supplying a prompt, reliable and helpful service at all times and are confident that the quality of their equipment and standard of service is second to none.
Their wide and varied stock list includes excavators, mini diggers, tele-handlers, tractors and wheeled loaders.
“I had been trading with my father John as a partnership for 30 years before incorporating the business as a limited company in 2015,” John explained. “A lot of our business was centred around the construction side of things in the early years but we diversified more into the agricultural end of the business from 2005 on.
“We specialise in buying and selling used JCBs, agricultural and construction machines. We also specialise in the sale and repair of machines that are not being manufactured any more, the likes of the Redrock telehandler for example – we do a lot of those for local customers.”
John continued: “Down through the years we’ve stuck to two manufacturers. In my experience if you are selling anything and everything, it is very hard to keep up to speed with modern day technology and the changes that come with that. We have found our way makes it easier for us to look after our customers and get a first time fix.”
Ervine Plant Hire have to capabilities to repair, refurbish and service machinery using their comprehensive workshop facilities and also offer on-site repair services for all plant machinery used throughout the construction and agricultural industries.
With servicing experience of a wide range of machine types (diggers, forklifts, dump-trucks etc) and covering a comprehensive list of manufacturers, they can work to your requirements where necessary. They cover all major machine types and manufacturers and all required parts sourced and installed as standard.
In addition, the Banbridge-based operation stock an extensive range of JCB agricultural spares parts at all times and constantly monitor their stock levels to ensure that they can react quickly to provide the best possible service.
When it comes to the costs involved, they have agreements with several reputable finance companies and will always try to find the best deal for their customers.
John and Ervine Plant have many years of experience in shipping machinery throughout the world. Whatever your requirements they will be happy to provide you with a shipping quotation to your required port anywhere in the world.
All documentation can be arranged and your plant will be covered by marine insurance until you collect your order from the port.
“Sales wise, we cover the north and south of the island as well as England. We’ve been exporting machines for 20 years now, to the likes of Sweden, Denmark and Finland. We’ve even sent machines to Dubai and South Africa. The first thing we do when a machine comes in is mechanical repairs, then into the bodyshop, mechanically validate it and set out for sale.”
So how is the current economic climate treating Ervine Plant Ltd?
“Business is okay,” he answered. “Like with everything, when the agricultural sector is under pressure there is a knock on effect. The work we do is slightly different to other freelance guys in that anything we sell, we make. Also, although we always welcome new customers with open arms, we’re not heavily reliant on new customers because we have built up a loyal customer base over the years.”
As regards the company’s future prospects, John added: “We hope business will keep going the way it has been. We pride ourselves on our customer support. We’re not just a company that sells machines and leaves it at that. We always try to hold on to the customer by looking after them post sale.”
