Trading for just three years, BD Agri & Plant has quickly established itself as a leading agricultural and plant machinery garage covering Waterford and surrounding counties.
Based in Dungarvan, BD Agri & Plant is first for service in the region when it comes to agri and plant equipment repairs. The garage is also a sales and service specialist for new Holland tractors, while its experienced technicians have specialist expertise with all makes and models of construction and agricultural machinery.
BD Agri & Plant was founded in 2021 by Ben Dunford who served his time with an agricultural machinery dealer in Waterford. At just 25, he is a young head on old shoulders. After initially specialising in repairs, he branched into sales and now supplies both new and used tractors and machinery. The opportunity to sell new machinery has come about quicker than expected thanks to a successful partnership with Murphy’s Motors, who are main New Holland dealers in Glenmore, Co. Kilkenny.
“It’s a bonus for us to be dealing with new tractors after only a short time in business,” Ben says.
“It has been made possible through our relationship with Murphy’s Motors. We look after all of their New Holland tractor and telehandler sales and service in West Waterford. The first machine we sold for Murphy’s was a slurry tanker in August 2022 and we haven’t looked back since.
“As someone who served my time with a Case dealer, New Holland is the perfect fit because mechanically speaking, they’re the same tractor. We also sell a lot of used tractors, telehandlers, diggers and plant, most of which are on behalf of our customers. We also sell some second-hand stock from Murphy’s and can source any machine to suit our customers’ exact requirements.
“We’ve earned a good reputation for service, repairs, sales, parts and breakdown. We have a mobile repair van and another one for back-up. With repairs, we have customers from Waterford city to Cork city. With sales, we have customers from all over Ireland.
“We have a wide and varied client-base which continues to grow, mainly through word of mouth and recommendations from satisfied customers.”
All of BD Agri & Plant’s used tractors and agricultural machinery are put through stringent checks and tests to ensure their competency. Apart from tractors and loaders, the other new machinery sold includes slurry tankers, grabs, buckets and hedge cutters.
Ben and his small but dedicated team can carry out all necessary repairs to your machine at their state-of-the-art workshop which is constantly being upgraded and boasts a full range of diagnostics for all makes and models. From servicing to diagnostics and recovery to repairs, BD Agri & Plant has everything covered.
“We’re currently working out of a two-bay workshop which we’re expanding to a four-bay. We have full dealer-level diagnostics for New Holland tractors as well as full Jaltest diagnostics for most brands of agricultural and plant equipment. This software allows us to quickly identify a range of issues with agri machinery, repair them and save any unnecessary downtime,” Ben adds.
“Another service we offer is blasting and restoration. We recently invested in a new Aquablaster Xtreme blasting machine from Applied Concept in Birr, Co. Offaly.”

Ben constantly maintains contact with you as to progress on the sale and viewings. He can offer finance packages to the end buyer which in turn makes the buying process easier. Once the sale has gone through, you get paid for the machine. This leaves you with nothing to do from start to finish except for making contact at the outset. This is an increasingly popular service with customers who don’t want the hassle or risk of selling machinery to the public.
