A Taylor made success story

14 Jul , 2016

Taylors (Fyfin) Ltd is a family run business committed to the highest standard and quality. From humble beginnings as a potato merchant to being one of the market leaders in the animal feed industry, the company’s growth is testament to hard work, dedication and putting their customers first.

For 65 years Taylors (Fyfin) Ltd, which is based outside Castlederg, Co Tyrone, have been a well known manufacturer of agri-products. They have earned a reputation for only using the best raw materials and blending them with care to ensure that the benefits are passed on to the farmer.

Established in 1950 by the late Thomas William Taylor, known to most as ‘Tommy Taylor’, the company is now in the third generation of Taylors.
In the late 1950’s Tommy Taylor started to work as a potato merchant and keep animals of his own. Due to the success of his own livestock, he started to make feeds for other farmers in the area. The rest, as they say, is history.

Over the years the company has grown to now having its own manufacturing plant and fleet of lorries delivering their products all over the country and further afield.
They now manufacture and supply feed rations for all types of livestock, from dairy, beef, pigs and sheep, and a specialist line of products, ‘Pure Performance Feed Rations’ for pedigree cattle and sheep.

In addition, their range of products cover all aspects of farms and they have a line in farming equipment such as creep feeders, troughs and loader and tractor attachments.
They also carry an extensive range of fertilizers and glass land additives to maximize the potential out of our land and a range of sprays to ensure that your land stays weed and pest free, giving increased yield. Their forage packing range, meanwhile, includes baler twines, netting, wrap and silage covers.

The company is now managed by William Taylor, and his son Thomas Taylor. Together they have brought the company to where it is today, at the fore-front of feed technology and nutrition.

Over the past 65 years the Taylors have gained extensive knowledge in how to produce the best feeds for your cattle, dairy or beef, to give you the results you need. Using the best ingredients and blending them carefully with supplements, they are sure you experience the benefits of their feeds.

“We specialise in pedigree feed for both cattle and sheep and we source our ingredients worldwide,” explained Thomas who holds a Degree in Agricultural Science and Diploma in Ruminant Nutrition and joined the family business in 2011.

“We also supply farms with high quality and bespoke blends of feed for dairy, sheep and beef cattle which are managed by our nutritional team.”
One of the strengths of their business lies in the dedication and skill of the 13 employees on their payroll. Every member of staff  has the skills to provide consistently high level of service to meet  their customer needs.

Delivering nutritional and management solutions to dairy, beef and sheep farmers, their  consultancy service provides farmers with the most cost effective nutritional solutions for the farm. They make a difference to every farm they work with, adding value, not costs to their clients’ business.

Their philosophy is underpinned by the belief that nutrition is not just about the ingredients going into the herd but it’s about their health and well being. The quality of any home grown forage as well as other inputs into the farm. As an independent company they can provide those farm inputs as cost effectively as possible.

They work closely with their customers as an integral part of their team and set measurable objectives and evaluate their work to provide clients with the best results, “The quality of our products is obviously of paramount importance to us and we provide a nutritional and advisory back-up service.
“We pride ourselves on the quality of our commercial feeds which are distribute widely throughout Northern Ireland as well as County Donegal while we export our pedigree feeds to the UK as well as the Republic, to counties Roscommon and Dublin.

“It’s a competitive market but what separates us is the fact that we can provide bespoke solutions.”

Looking ahead to the future, Thomas revealed that expansion plans are in the pipeline. “We’re hoping to commence work on expanding our production and storage facilities shortly and hope to have that completed by July 2016.”

Taylor’s attention to detail and dedicated staff with years of experience make them a leader in the market. They boast the knowledge, expertise and resources necessary to satisfy your feed requirements.

As a family business, they will go above and beyond the call of duty to provide a professional personal service. They ensure a greater flexibility to their customers and a personal service is always guaranteed.

“We’re enthusiastic about what we do and we realise that our customers are the backbone of our business. We’re a very customer centred business and are always willing to help, no matter how small or trivial the query may be. We always say to our customers don’t be afraid to pick up the phone to us.”
