Jim Power Agri Sales synonymous with premium products and service

17 Aug, 2026

Headquartered in Tallow, County Waterford, Jim Power Agri Sales has since its inception in 2008 evolved into one of Ireland’s premier tractor and agricultural machinery dealerships. We touched base with sales manager Kalen Budden for an update on this progressive operation which is firmly established as an industry leader for sales and service across Munster and beyond.

From humble beginnings 18 years ago, Jim Power Agri Sales has grown into a major player in the farming communities of Waterford, Cork, Wexford, Kerry, Kilkenny and Limerick, consistently delivering premium machinery and unbeatable aftersales service to an ever-expanding base of farmers and contractors who can rest assured that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring absolute customer satisfaction.

The secret to Jim Power Agri Sales’ growth and success is not rocket science: they only stock high-quality brands that are proven to perform and these are backed up by an exceptional aftersales service diligently and professionally provided by an experienced team of knowledgeable and customer-focused personnel.

Furthermore, although they specialise in grass machinery, every possible base is covered, as a quick perusal of the comprehensive list of marquee brands stocked will confirm. Jim Power Agri Sales are main dealers for Deutz, Merlo telehandlers, Schaffer loaders, Krone, Amazone, Abbey, Quikie, Agri Spread, Spearhead, Bunning dung spreaders, Smyth Trailers, Nugent Trailers and implements and Watson, amongst others.

“They are all premium quality products,” states Kalen Budden, who has been part of the fantastic sales team at Jim Power Agri Sales for two years and counting. “We only sell a premium range of stuff and the advantages of this are obvious – they are all extremely reliable machines.

“It’s easier to stand over and back-up good machines. All our technicians are experienced and regularly upskilled, and our service vans are equipped with all the specialist tools needed to guarantee that we stick to the ethos that Jim has fostered since he set the business up: to meet the needs of farmers and contractors by always offering the best-possible customer service.”

The addition of the Merlo telehandlers marque to Jim Power Agri Sales’ ever-expanding network of official partnerships in 2024 helped the business break new ground. “Taking on Merlo helped us expand more into the construction side of things,” says Kalen. “It’s still a relatively new agency for us but it’s going very well and we had a great start to the year in both construction and agri, with half a dozen Merlo telehandlers registered already in 2026 and gone out to customers, while six more are on order.

“The partnership with Merlo is bringing us further into the construction sector, which suits our business as we also sell a range of other products that can be used in construction, including Deutz tractors, dump trailers and a range of buckets.

“It’s a very broad range. You have compact machines starting at 2.7 tonne with a 6ft wheel base – very compact but strong and versatile machines – up to a 12-tonne telehandler on a fixed chassis.”

At the heart of Jim Power Agri Sales is the extensive range of new and second-hand machines available, covering every possible need a farmer or contractor might have. “We have a very broad reach and we also have eleven vans on the road to back this up, travelling as far as West Kerry and extensively across Waterford, Wexford, Cork, Limerick and Kilkenny.

“Customers are always looked after and this is down to the quality of the products and the team we have in place. We’ve recently taken on Sean Cronin as our third sales man [alongside Kalen and Paschal Twomey] and Sean is a great addition to the team. He has five years’ experience in sales and has spent his life around machinery. He’s covering West Cork full time, and into Kerry as well, and that gives us a very firm footing in that area.”

The trusty Jim Power Agri Sales team is always growing and today they generate direct employment for a crew of 18 full-time plus three part-time. “Even though it’s growing, it’s still a very tight team and everybody would be in touch with everybody else on a daily basis,” Kalen notes.

“Training never stops. Three of us were in Germany a few weeks ago doing forager and wagon training and we had a lad out with Amazone in Germany only this week for technical training. There’s a lot of travelling involved in this and it’s a big investment but it pays off in the long run. The better trained your technicians are, the better the back-up service is going to be. When you are dealing in premium brands, you simply have to provide a service to match.”

Jim Power Agri Sales has come a long way in a comparatively short space of time and is a business that certainly could not be accused of resting on its laurels. To the contrary, this is a very progressive multi-brand dealership that’s always on the front foot, moving with the times…

“We are always pushing forward. We have a clear vision of where we want to be and a strong team and that allows us to evolve. If you have the room to expand and the opportunity to expand, then you should expand. We are now also the sole agent in Waterford county and East Cork for Nugent Trailers. We always sold them and had some in stock but have taken the next step and will now carry a full range of Nugent trailers in stock all year around.

“It’s a big step to become a sole agent but it was a logical move and we are confident that with good management – and it’s going to take management and space – it’s something that’ll do very well for us.”

With such a vast array of stellar products available, Jim Power Agri Sales have enjoyed a busy and successful first half of 2026 and it’s clearly a case of onwards and upwards looking to the future:

“At the moment, we have everything here to suit everybody from the small-scale farmer up to the biggest contractor,” concludes Kalen. “There’s not a product that we don’t have. We have great relationships with all of our reps and speak to them on a weekly basis. Their support and help gives us the confidence to stock, sell and service such a wide range of premium-quality machinery.

“Sales are brisk and this year already we’ve had a big year with new Big Ms – selling six so far – and Big Xs – selling four to date – as well as a good number of second hands that went through our workshop and left here grass-ready. Smyth Trailers are also going well – we’re in the high 30s yearly with silage trailers and hitting 10-15 dump trailers per year.

“All the brands are performing well and that’s down to the quality of the machines, the support of our suppliers and reps, the hard work and dedication of our team and crucially the trust and loyalty of our customers, around whom everything is geared.”
