Cork based Denis Quinn Plant Hire Ltd has been providing an excellent service to a large customer base for 25 years now.
Being involved in the construction industry means that Denis and the team have come through some tough times, but the company MD revealed to us that the majority of their work is carried out in other industries.
With many years’ experience in the plant hire business, the company has built up a reputation for excellent plant hire service and professionalism. Operating the most modern plant hire equipment, Denis Quinn Plant Hire Ltd continues to satisfy the needs of its many plant hire clients throughout Ireland.
The services provided include land reclamation, site excavation and development, rock breaking and landscaping services.
These days Denis Quinn Plant Hire Ltd has a range of machinery including diggers from 13 tonnes to 50 tonnes, but he admitted that the business was heading a different direction when he first started.
“We’re based in Millstreet, Co Cork and when I first set up the business, it was all silage work that I was doing. We still do it today, but just for a select group of customers,” said Denis.
“About a year after starting up, I bought a digger and gradually moved into the plant work. A lot of our work would be for farmers, doing land reclamation or digging for tanks, etc.”
Ten years ago, the company diversified slightly when they became involved in wind farms, working for companies that installed them and they continue to do this.
“The wind farms would be a big part of our business now. We have been at it about ten years. Most of our plant work would be done in Cork or just across the border in Kerry, but with the wind farms, we could be anywhere along the coast like Clare, Mayo or Galway.”
When it comes to the plant, Case is the preferred choice of excavators, but Denis also has Volvo, Hitachi and Hyundai amongst the fleet of 18 track machines with the majority of the maintenance work carried out by themselves.
“We can also provide earthmoving equipment such as loading shovels and ‘dozers, and an array of demolition equipment.”
Denis Quinn Plant Hire Ltd exists to meet your needs – however complex – with a large fleet of modern, expertly maintained and versatile machinery and equipment. And their meticulous attention to detail when it comes to health and safety means they can work with confidence and reassurance.
“We have seen big changes in the industry over the last year and more so in relation to all the New Health and Safety Legislation. We are pleased to inform you that all of our staff complies with all the Health and Safety regulations. All our machinery has the necessary Safety Certificates.
Customer satisfaction is something that Denis has always strived for as he states that without that the business wouldn’t have lasted a quarter of a century.
“We would like to assure the customer it is our aim to provide all our clients with an excellent service at reasonable cost.
“We work closely with our customers to ensure everything runs smoothly from beginning to end of hire with our professional and reliable service. Our customers always come back for our reliable service at competitive rates for that guaranteed excellent service. We know going the extra mile, we would be able to provide that more personal service to ensure our customers satisfaction to meeting all their needs.”
The company has not been afraid to move with the times and if the work is there, they have know problem meeting the demand by taking on more staff if necessary.
“Due to the demand, the company has expanded and there are 16 employed directly, while drivers will be taken on when needed. We would also upgrade the fleet of machinery on a regular basis and there is a mixture of new and used machinery brought in. We have a couple of full time mechanics here and we would do all our own maintenance work.”
Denis also runs a fleet of four trucks, which are all Renault tippers, which are generally used on site to draw materials to and from a project.
The customer base includes much repeat custom; a sign that the company are doing something right and Denis feels that if they can continue to provide this level of service than the future should be bright.
“A lot of customers would be with us for many years going back to when the business was first established. Everyone is treated the same here and once we are employed to do a project, the customer knows that it will be done to the best of our abilities, which always meets their requirements. Once we can continue to do that then, we should have no problems for the future.”
Denis concluded with some praise for his hard working employees many of who have been with the company for years and provide a wealth of experience, while the last word was reserved for his family.
“The success of our business would not be possible without the continued support of our customers and the hard work of our staff who have been with us for many years. They are all very good at what they do and without them, we would not be able to carry out the work we do to the standard that people expect from us.
“I would also like to thank my wife Maura and daughter Ruby who have bee a great support to me over the years and they too have played their part in the success of the business; putting up with the long hours that I’ve put in and just generally being there for me.”
