Tipperary man Eddie Quinn has an agent for Fullwood Packo for the past decade, specialising in dairy installations and servicing, so Irish Tractor & Agri felt it was time to catch up with him to learn more about Quinn Dairy Services.
These are busy times for Eddie Quinn in Nenagh, Co Tipperary and the plan is to keep things that way down in the Premier County.
A specialist in dairy installations and servicing, Eddie has been an agent of Fullwood for ten years now and primarily covers North Tipperary, South Offaly and the east of Galway for the globally renowned company.
Putting it plainly, Fullwood is (and has been for some time) a leading designer and manufacturer of milking systems and milking equipment.
Privately owned, it has been supplying the dairy industry with all types of solutions from conventional herringbone, parallel and rotary parlours to the very latest automated milking robots for more than 70 years.
The company’s Irish end of the business is known as Fullwood Packo and has almost 50 years’ experience in serving the dairy industry in this country, manufacturing Packo cooling tanks and supplying Fullwood milking systems.
There’s nothing this company and its agents don’t know about dairy farming and they pride themselves in being the technology leaders in modern cooling and milking systems.
Eddie Quinn’s family have been doing this for the best part of half a century so, it’s safe to say, it’s an ideal combination.
The man himself took some time from a hectic schedule to explain more to Irish Tractor & Agri.
“We’re covering north Tipperary, south Offaly and east Galway,” Eddie outlined. “We have been Fullwood agents for the last 10 years, covering the milk machinery, water pumps and water treatment. My family has been doing this since 1969.
“There’s two lads working with me and during the peak time here I could have five with me. My father, Ned Quinn, is still active enough doing small calls.
“Quinn Dairy Services started with him and you could say that it’s nearly 50 years established now.”
The origins of the family business date back to when Ned Quinn’s father first started out in Dairy Services.
That makes Eddie third generation in dairy installations and servicing, having followed in the footsteps of his father.
“When I was a young lad I was always working with my father,” he stated. “I learned from him down through the years and then in 2007 I took over here from him.
“That’s when we became agents for Fullwood, so it’s the path we’ve been on ever since and we’ve been very busy so far this year.”
The products at Fullwood are world renowned for both being robust and durable and the company guarantees its clients top quality products and top quality service.
The milking machines and cooling tanks at Fullwood Packo Ireland are designed and manufactured at the company’s factory in Kanturk, Co Cork.
Opened back in 1977, the factory was built to manufacture the Packo range of Refrigerated Milk Cooling tanks for the home market, as well as the export market.
Over 15,000 tanks have been produced at the company’s Kanturk factory, ranging in from the smallest tank in the early days of 300lts to the largest in recent times of 30,000lts both Ice-Bank and Direct Expansion.
Fullwood Packo covers both milking machines and tanks and the company works closely with various milking machine dealers and cooling equipment agents to sell and install equipment nationwide.
They will offer advice on farm layouts and parlour installations, cooling requirements, to robotic milking, regular servicing and all after-care requirements spare parts and consumables.
Fullwood has been installing its milking machines in Ireland since the early 1950s and the company’s continued improvement and innovation has been there for all to see down through the decades.
It’s why Fullwood is regarded as one of the most reliable and well-designed machines which has the very latest technology.
Indeed Fullwood has been a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of milking systems and milk storage equipment for over 70 years now.
Eddie was happy to report that business is as good as ever from his perspective
“I’m glad to say that been very busy lately, with two vans operating on the road. Over the next month or so we’re going to be flat out to be honest, so we can’t complain,” he stated.
The secret to the Quinn family’s success doesn’t come down to one attribute in particular, according to Eddie, but he does like to think that their clients find them reliable and the Fullwood product excellent when it comes to their milking system needs.
Asked why he thinks his customers choose him first, Eddie replied: “I suppose it’s just our history. People find us reliable and of course the Fullwood product is top class as well.
“We like to think that we also give them a good back up service here, so they’ve stuck with us down through the years and we’re grateful for the continued business.”
Long may it continue, Eddie.
