Celebrating 50 years in business in 2018, Selfridge Engineering is a leading manufacturer and supplier of products used in the construction of agricultural and industrial buildings. The products can be supplied individually or as a complete kit building, taking the hassle out of sourcing all the components you require for your building.
Conveniently located on the outskirts of Maghera and just off the A6, Selfridge Engineering is a family-run business which was founded in 1968 by Linton Selfridge to cater for the engineering needs of the local agricultural community. Linton continues to drive the business with the help of his wife Margaret, sons Richard and Linton Jnr, and eight highly-skilled and trained staff. At its factory, which is located on a four-acre site, Selfridge Engineering manufactures both corrugated and box profile sheeting. These come in various colours, cut to the exact length you require, with fast turnaround times.
If it’s part of a building or shed, there is a good chance that the Selfridges will have it in stock or can make it from stock material. If not, they can source it for you. The CE certified structural steel specialists have built up a large client-base throughout Northern Ireland and are always delighted to hear from new customers.

Selform is the roll forming side of the business. Selform rollforms roof and wall cladding in three different profiles – Corrugated, Box Profile, and Mini box. All cladding is made to order from 1,000 tonnes plus of coil stock. This results in fast and efficient turnaround times giving you the material you want when you want it!
All cladding is rolled from prime quality steel with full traceability and a mill-backed warranty for your assurance.
All three profiles can be supplied with an anti-condensation fleece (Nondrip) applied to the underside of the cladding. This fleece absorbs condensation to help prevent drips. The firm also manufactures ventilated wall cladding in two profiles – corrugated and box profile. This cladding is ideal for animal housing and other buildings which require ventilation. Corrugated cladding can be rolled to a specific radius for curved roofed buildings, new projects and replacement re-clad projects.
The above cladding is offered in different grades and gauges.
Selfarm is one of the grades. This grade can be supplied in two gauges 0.55 and 0.7. Selfarm is designed for animal housing, it has a 35microns of coating on each side and 275grams of galvanise per metre squared. This is one of the highest spec sheets on the market which comes with a 20-year guarantee. Selfarm cladding is available in four colours – Juniper Green, Slate Blue, Slate Grey and Van Dyk Brown.
Selcom is another grade that can be supplied in two gauges 0.5 and 0.6. Selcom is designed more for multipurpose buildings which don’t have a corrosive environment. This is a more economical range of cladding. Selcom cladding is also available in four colours – Juniper Green, Slate Blue, Slate Grey and Van Dyk Brown.
Selfridge Engineering supplies 200 micron Leathergrain Plastisol in 0.5 or 0.7 gauge in a range of colours. This product is more commonly used in commercial and industrial type buildings, and comes with up to a 30 years warranty depending on the building (not suitable for livestock housing).

Flashing and Trim
Selfridge Engineering manufactures its flashing in-house from stock material, which means quick turnaround times for customers. Flashing can be supplied standard or made to bespoke shapes and sizes to suit your requirements.
Gutter and spouting
The Selfridges are stockists of Polypipe and Brett Martin rainwater products. They keep in stock; 117mm deepflow gutter in Black, Grey and Brown, 150mm Half round in Black and Grey, 170mm Deepstyle in Black. They have all the fittings in stock, including running outlets, Fascia Bracket / hooks, External Stop End, Union Brackets/Joints, down pipes in 68mm and 110mm, down pipe clips, shoes. They manufacture Hi-line gutters, galvanised box gutters, bevel gutters, Insulated gutters, metal valley gutters. They stock half round valley gutter in 8’’ /200mm, 10’’ 250mm and 12’’/300mm. This is also known as half sewer pipe, valley pipe and gutter pipe.
Skylights and Rooflights
Selfridge Engineering has in stock at any time over 2,000 sheets of clear polycarbonate skylights. The firm has a wide range of lengths and sizes in a number of profiles, the main profiles are 10/3 corrugated, 14/3 corrugated, 1000/30 box profile and Profile 6 or Big 6. Polycarbonate sheet is engineered for use in rooflight and side-light applications. Combining strength and impact resistance with high optical clarity and light transmission, this lightweight rooflight material is ideal for industrial, agricultural, horticultural, leisure and DIY applications which require its high-performance characteristics. Other names people may call these products and words associated are trilite, Marvec, PVC sheets, Plastic sheets, clear sheets, marlon, GRP, translucent sheets, clear box profile, transparent sheets, see through sheets.
Door Track / Sliding Door Gear
Door track is another of Selfridge Engineering’s roll formed products. This product can be supplied in one continuous length, not like most door track systems on the market. This means no bumps for the hangers to stick in or bump over, ensuring a smooth free running door. The business stock all the parts you require to get your door sliding, like door track brackets, door track wheels and door canopy. Other words associated with this product are; Henderson 301, Henderson 290, door track hangers, door gear, door apron, sliding runners and door runner.
Structural steel
Selfridge Engineering manufacture, supply and deliver bespoke made-to-measure structural steel for all types of buildings, including residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural.
Following extensive scrutiny, its rigorous Quality Assurance Procedures have been approved to –EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011. Since 2015, Selfridge Engineering has been qualified to supply CE Marked Structural Steelwork in Execution Classes up to and including Execution Class 2.
Drill screws / Tek Screws
Selfridge Engineering stocks a large range of drill screws, including timber screws, light section screws, heavy section screws, panel screws, Big 6 screws, drive screws, tapcons, stitchers/ stitching screws. The business also has butyl tapes, foam fillers, sealer caps, cover caps and sealants in stock. Other names include Tec screw, hex screw, drilling screw and self-drilling screw.
Bolts
The Maghera company has a wide range of sizes in varies types of bolts in stock, including engineering bolts, cup square bolts, through bolts, raw bolts thunder bolts, hold down bolts, spouting bolts, threaded bar, nuts, washers, CE marked bolts, wood bolts.
Kit Form Buildings
Selfridge Engineering can supply and design the complete kit form building to the customers’ needs. This is ideal for anyone who doesn’t want all the hassle of sourcing materials from a number of suppliers. The Selfridges can supply everything, including the structural steel, roof and side purlins, roof and wall cladding, gutters, doors, bolts and fixings. They are BSI approved to manufacture structural steel to Exc2 so you can be assured you are getting a building that is fit-for-purpose. They aim to deliver the complete kit to site in one go so you or your erector can get to work the minute the materials arrive. Flat pack buildings and sectional buildings.
Purlins and Eaves Beams
The business also supplies multi-beam purlins and eaves beams, including purlin brackets and anti-sag bars. These are galvanised and can be 145, 175, 205, 235,265,300,325 deep x 65 wide x 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 1.8mm, 2mm gauge. Z purlins. Zees Beams. C Beams Cees Beams.
