Pat Moore Dairy Services of Carrick-on-Suir offer a range of services to dairy farmers and are proud agents for DeLaval, Alfco Engineering, Condon Engineering and Cashman Feeders. Managing Director Pat Moore has a wealth of experience in the industry which spans four decades.
When it comes to reliable machinery and back-up service, DeLaval’s extensive portfolio of milking equipment can’t be beaten. That’s the opinion of Pat Moore and he should know because he boasts a 40 year long association with the world renowned manufacturer.
This has enabled him to develop close working relationships with all of his customers in his catchment area.
“I worked with Powers of Carrick originally and then spent five years with Alfa Laval before the opportunity to go out on my own came up. I decided to go for it and established the business in 1985,” Pat revealed.
“I set up as a limited company two years ago and we cover mid and south Kilkenny, go down as far as New Ross as well as east Waterford and south Tipperary. We have a lot of loyal customers and we are grateful to them for their continued support.”
Maintaining a long list of repeat customers is made a lot easier when you supply the DeLaval range of products. DeLaval offers automatic and conventional milking systems, cooling and feeding systems, effluent and housing systems and farm management support systems.
DeLaval customers, and by extension Pat’s customers, can also choose from a wide range of services and consumables which are grouped in four portfolios: liners and tubes, farm supplies, services and original parts, and milk quality and animal health.
More and more dairy farmers are turning to technology to ensure they can optimise their milk production and cows’ well-being.
At DeLaval, they add value by meeting and exceeding their customers’ requirements on quality, productivity and safety.
They design, manufacture and supply integrated milking solutions with the needs of dairy farmers in mind at all times. They serve customers in more than 100 countries around the globe.
Research and innovation are central to the continued success of DeLaval supporting their customers and they have seven R&D centres across the globe.
They work closely with a worldwide network of farmers, academics, dedicated research facilities, scientists, sales teams and authorised dealers. There are over a million farmers across the globe using DeLaval’s products and solutions.
”DeLaval do a huge amount of research and, at present, their robotic milker is proving very popular. We’ve sold 10 in our region over the last two years. A lot of research went into it and it’s it a high quality machine which works well for our customers.
“As regards rotary parlours, we’ve sold four in our area in recent times. We were very busy there for quite a while but with with the drop in milk price, things slackened off a bit. That said we’re receiving a lot of enquiries at the moment so we’re optimistic about the future.”
He added: “There is a big drive on milk at the moment with grain not pricing good and beef dodgy. If the milk price can steady up it would be a big plus going forward because there is a bit of cashflow in milk all the time.
“We registered as a limited company only two years ago and took on two lads this year so hopefully we’ll see that growth continue.”
To complement their DeLaval business, over the years Pat Moore Dairy Services has diversified further into the agricultural sector and are also agents for Alfco (cow mats), Condon Engineering (livestock housing solutions), Cashman Feeders and EPS (pump services).
“Since the quotas went there has been a lot of expansion undertaken on dairy farms and our products have been in demand,” explained Pat.
DeLaval’s goal is to reduce the environmental footprint of farms, while improving milk production, farm profitability and the well-being of the people and animals involved.
They believe the goal of Sustainable Dairy Farming can be achieved by supporting dairy farmers with smart technology and services to continuously increase resource efficiency on farms. To put it another way, DeLaval support them to do more with less.
