New John Deere 6R tractors feature Stage IV engines

23 Jan , 2015

Spearheading the John Deere range of mid-size tractors from Mannheim, the new six-cylinder 6175R, 6195R and 6215R large frame models with Stage IV/Final Tier 4 engines feature enhanced manoeuvrability, improved operator comfort and industry leading extended service intervals.

These premium quality 6R Series tractors are powered by 6.8-litre John Deere PowerTech PVS/PSS engines rated from 175 to 215hp (97/68 EC), which deliver an extra 5hp compared to the models they replace. The engines’ intelligent power management (IPM) system also produces an extra 40hp boost for transport and PTO work, which is 10hp more than the previous range.

Fuel efficiency of these new models can be enhanced by choosing either the established AutoPowr continuously variable transmission or the new, advanced double-clutch DirectDrive transmission. Software updates to DirectDrive include automatic clutch sensitivity, a speed matching mode and starting gear selection. Proven powershift transmissions are also available.

Equipped with a pressure and flow compensated hydraulic system, the new 6R Series tractors feature a redesigned hydraulic valve block for improved access and easier uncoupling using quick release levers. The optional premium front hitch includes a dedicated SCV, pressure-free oil return, a remote control to lift and lower the hitch and electronic position sensing to simplify the operation of front-mounted implements.

The tractors’ highly comfortable ComfortView cab is designed to help reduce operator stress and fatigue during long working days. On models equipped with the DirectDrive or AutoPower transmissions, the new 6R CommandARM – as featured on John Deere’s latest 7R and 8R Series tractors – features an electronic joystick and the desktop computer style Generation 4 CommandCenter display.

New wide-angle mirrors improve visibility around the tractor and of large implements. Controlled from the CommandCenter display, powerful, longer lasting LED lights illuminate the immediate tractor surroundings and also help to maintain the best possible visibility at nighttime.

To achieve the highest possible levels of uptime, these new FarmSight-ready 6R Series tractors can be fitted with JDLink telematics as an option. One example of this system is remote display access (RDA), which can help the tractor driver with machine set-up, operation and adjustment, while remote diagnostics is standard on JDLink. Since the driver can remain in the tractor cab to be instructed by the dealer’s service expert or farm manager from their offices, both these solutions can significantly reduce operating and maintenance costs.

Key service points on the new 6R Series tractors are easy to access for maintenance, while in an industry first, the oil filter, fuel filter and engine oil intervals have been extended from 500 to 750 hours, helping to further reduce parts and servicing costs.
