Trevor Walsh is a busy man as his newly established business continues to grow from strength to strength. Irish Tractor & Agri heard more from the man himself recently.
Walsh Plant & Agri Ltd offers the whole package when it comes to Agri work and also has a specific focus on digger work.
Trevor himself has a background in plant hire before taking the decision to go out on his own. Trevor took time from his busy schedule to explain to Irish Tractor & Agri what his business is all about.
Based in Co Laois, Agri Services include: Moving / Baling / Wrapping / Slurry Spreading / Swarting / Drawing Bales / Stacking Bales / Hedge Cutting.
Plant Services of the business includes: Drainage / Land Reclamation / Site Clearance – all types of site work, with saw head and 3 ton to 14 ton excavators available.
Trevor explained that he previously worked for a plant hire manager from when he left school. The economic climate offered very attractive prices on machinery helping him to get up and running.
With the Agri Services and Plant Hire, Trevor is kept busy 12 months a year. Trevor explains that the digging work is very busy, he will travel 40 miles for work – has previously travelled to Carlow and Portumna – but right now he is busy locally.
Trevor explains a lot of the business is repeat business, however, he is building up new customers. Trevor advises that silage customers are very particular about times, “I come when I say I’m going to come and always on time”. He adds that he has a number of loyal customers locally.
Trevor’s own farm concentrates on beef and tillage with suckler cows on the farm.
On the machinery side New Holland and Claas are first and second choice, respectively, when it comes to Tractors.
“I have four tractors in total – made up of New Holland and Claas and I recently bought a new rake and a new baler,” Trevor advises.
Trevor adds that he would buy from WR Shaw in Tullamore and Tom Shaw Machinery in Birr as both always offer a good service.
It seems that Walsh Plant & Agri offers a very good service for all your Plant & Agri needs.
