The one-stop shop for all your machinery needs

24 Mar , 2021

Based just outside the towns of Mountmellick and Portarlington, Casey Agri provides sales, service and parts for a range of farm machinery. Irish Tractor & Agri heard more about the family-run company from co-director Denise Casey recently.

October marked two years since Bob and Denise Casey took over the Casey Agri in Garryhinch and today business is “quite strong” along the Laois/Offaly border.

The company’s history dates back 30 years to a time when Eamon Casey (Bob’s father) first started his farm machinery business and grew it from the ground up.

Today, Casey Agri offers its customers tractor and agri machinery for sales and also boasts a busy parts department down in Garryhinch, where they employ four full-time staff.

Irish Tractor & Agri learned all about the ins and outs of this award-winning company, as well as its hopes going forward, from Denise Casey.

“Primarily, it’s Quality used tractors that we sell here,” she explained. “We also sell farm machinery and we are proud stockists of Abbey, Fleming, NC, Rossmore, Amazone, Krone and Bomford brands.

“Business has been consistent enough this year and even though lockdown came during our busiest season, we have managed to maintain all our services.”

Indeed, government lockdown this past March in response to the Covid-19 pandemic affected businesses nationwide and Casey Agri was no different.

The company has long supplied customers not only in the Midlands, but also all throughout Ireland with a variety of used equipment and new top-class machinery.

All of the machines that pass back through Casey Agri’s gates are fully serviced and ready to work.

It’s that kind of service that sees the company’s customers coming back time and time again.

“We see a lot of repeat business here going back to customers that Bob’s father Eamon would have dealt with years ago,” said Denise.

“Local business is quite strong and we are forever grateful that our customers shop local. We have a mechanic on the road to supply repairs and urgent callouts to our customers.

“Then we have a parts department as well which is very busy at the moment.”

Abbey, Amazone, Krone, Quicke, NC, Fleming, Bomford, Rainbow, Rossmore, Ifor Williams, and Hudson Trailers are the brands of machinery that Casey Agri provide sales, service and parts for.

The company is committed to providing first class service on all tractors, plant and machinery sold to its wide customer base.

Exceptional services, reliable products and well-trained employees, all of which work together to ensure quick help and prompt decisions, are why customers continue to come back to Casey Agri.

All of the company’s mechanics undergo the latest and most up to date training to ensure quality service to clients.

With regards to parts, Casey Agri stocks genuine parts for all Landini and McCormick tractors, John Deere, New Holland, Landini, McCormick, Abbey, Amazone, Krone, Quicke, NC, Fleming, Bomford, Rainbow, Rossmore, Ifor Williams, and Hudson Trailers and have a next day delivery service from most of its suppliers.

The aim at Casey Agri is to supply the customer with a fast and efficient service by trying to have most common components for the machines they sell on the shelf in their stores.

As for why customers choose the company ahead of other competitors out there, Denise feels that the Casey name is one with a proud tradition around the Midlands when it comes to excellence in farm machinery.

“I would say a lot of it is down to the familiarity of the place to our customers and the fact that the service is excellent. We know them and they know us,” she stated.

“Bob had worked in the business with his dad for years and during that time he developed a relationship with the customers.

“For us when we took over, it was to look at where we wanted to take the business. We put in a new store at the back to hold more parts and we were planning more refurbishment works in early 2020 but Covid-19 has stalled that slightly.”

The company’s excellent work was recognised on a national scale when it earned accreditation at the Business All Stars.

The national body are responsible for accrediting Best-in-Class Irish businesses, convening the All-Ireland Business Summit and Awards.

Needless to say, Casey Agri were delighted with the success.

“The business All Star award was definitely nice to receive and it was a nice bit of recognition for the company,” Denise said.

“There were a couple of stages with the entry process, an e-mail, a phone call and an actual call in, and it was all on a points system.

“It was great to win and even for the staff to be able to say it’s a business that’s recognised nationally is great.”

Looking towards the months ahead, Casey Agri will no doubt be hoping for more of the same with regards to the current rate of business.

As for the Caseys themselves, they, like every family, will be hoping the situation will improve with regards to the Coronavirus pandemic which has gripped the globe over the past year.

“The hopes for the months ahead are simply that we all stay safe and healthy,” said Denise.

“With Brexit coming up at the end of the year, 2021 will  bring more challenges for Business and farming community, but like all challenges we will rise to meet them “

She concluded: “We’re a one stop shop for all your farm machinery needs, so hopefully we can continue to be in 2021 and for many more years to come.”
