A fascination with welding led Victor Parke into the steel fabrication and erection business. From the beautiful village of Quigley Point’s, which is located on the eastern shores of Inishowen and is just 10 miles from Derry city, his company quickly grew and employed 14 staff at the height of the economic boom. But he was forced to downsize when the recession hit and now employs five.
“We were building hundreds of sheds during the good times. Business peaked when the grant scheme was available to farmers in 2007 and 2008,” he explains.
“Like nearly every other business in Ireland, the recession took its toll on us, but we’re still here and providing the same great service. Things seem to be picking up again. We are getting a fair bit of work from dairy farmers who are investing in new milking parlours following the lifting of the milk quota. If farmers have money, they will spend it…”

“Farm buildings account for about 75 per cent of our overall output, with industrial work accounting for the other 25 per cent. We have built a lot of industrial units over the years. “No job is too big or too small. We can build small, medium or large sheds. The materials we use are the best that are out there. We buy our steel, cladding and sheeting from different sources, including Duggan Steel, which is probably the biggest name in Ireland when it comes to agri building materials. North West Galvanising in Eglinton supply us with galvanise products.”
All Greenhill Parke Engineering buildings are custom-designed, drawing on almost 20 years of experience to best suit your individual needs. Keith Parke uses the latest technology to design buildings to your exact specification.
In the company’s early years, the client-base was local, but due to the high standards of product and service provided, it now attracts customers from throughout the North West, on both sides of the border. It is currently being CE Certified and EN 1090 Execution Class 2 approved in line with farm building and structural steel requirements.
