Established in Kiltullagh, Co. Galway in 2017, E.MITCHELL ENGINEERING LTD is a leading provider of quality farm buildings in the West of Ireland.
While E.MITCHELL ENGINEERING LTD may be a relatively new company, its owner Emmet Mitchell comes from a family steeped in the structural engineering and farm building manufacturing sector. Emmet is proud to carry on the family’s tradition for making agricultural buildings of the highest quality.
“The Mitchell name was already out there. That was a big help to me when I was starting out,” reveals Emmet, who is a metal fabricator by trade.
“I worked as a welder and fabricator in Australia for seven years before returning home in 2016 to build my house and set up the business. I learned a lot from working in mines and gas plants in Australia, and even became an Australian citizen. But I always wanted to come home and am glad I did because the business has really taken off.”
Superior quality, attention to detail, reliability, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of E.MITCHELL ENGINEERING LTD. Health & Safety is at the core of the business, which has grown to employ a top-class team at its Kiltullagh workshop. From concept to completion, Emmet and his team are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new farming building is designed and built to your specific needs without any extra or hidden costs.
“We’re a one-stop shop from the foundation up. We look after all the steel and cladding work. The only thing we don’t do is the groundworks or concrete work. We see that as another man’s area of expertise,” explains Emmet, who is in his early thirties.
“We have earned a stellar reputation and this is reflected in the amount of repeat business and referrals we get from customers. We’re committed to providing an outstanding product and service at the most competitive price. All of our buildings are solid, secure, attractive in appearance and are built to last a lifetime.”
No job is too big or small for E.MITCHELL ENGINEERING LTD which provides the complete package of fabrication, erection and kitting out a building ready to move in. The Co. Galway company also offers a range of internal barriers, penning, dividing gates, crushes and rolling doors for ease of use and access in your new farm building.
Fully insured and compliant with all Health & Safety regulations, E.MITCHELL ENGINEERING LTD also holds a current CE Marking Certificate – EN 1090-1 Execution Class 2. Furthermore, all work carried out by the company adheres to Department of Agriculture S101 Standards.
“Anyone who isn’t CE certified has no future in the business. A farmer can’t apply for grant aid if he’s not dealing with a CE certified company,” Emmet points out.
“While getting CE approved was a big investment for us, it’s worth it in the long run. We’re constantly reinvesting in the company, in our machinery and equipment. We have an automatic bandsaw, press brake, guillotine, iron worker and CNC plasma cutter in our main workshop, and have a separate workshop for shot-blasting and painting. In terms of plant, we have three lorries, four vans, a tractor, low loader, teleporter, cherry-picker and crane.
“Our logo has five stars on it and we pride ourselves on that.”
Suppliers include Thompson Butler (structural steel), EQC (cladding and sheets), Sperrin Galvanisers (hot dip galvanise) and Connacht Tools (fixtures and fittings). “All of the materials we use are top-notch. Our sheds are built to last and we stand over every job we do,” Emmet adds.
E.MITCHELL ENGINEERING LTD boasts a growing customer-base in Galway and surrounding counties. The company has undoubtedly benefited from the abolition of milk quotas back in 2015, while TAMS II – under which farmers can avail of generous grant aid – has also been good for business.
“Our main customers are dairy and beef farmers. Last year we completed over 100 sheds. Our largest project to date has been a dairy unit for 200 cows,” the affable managing director says.
“We’ve worked on a number of big dairy farms in West Clare. We were delighted to get the business down there.”
The company also provides steel engineering solutions to the domestic and commercial sectors.
“We recently fitted steel for a round roof beams feature on a residential property and an outdoor canopy area for a montessori school. We also specialise in garages, workshops and dry storage industrial buildings. But the agri sector still accounts for about 90% of our business.”
Emmet continues: “We’re renowned for our very fast turnaround on projects, and pride ourselves on being one of the quickest teams to erect and finish out a shed in any size.”
Emmet concludes by paying tribute to his staff and thanking his customers and suppliers for their continued support.
“Everyone has a job to do and knows their role. It takes a team effort to bring each and every project to a successful conclusion. I’m always onsite and take particular care when it comes to applying the finishing touch. You’re only as good as your last job in this business.”
