Naas-based Glenngorey Pumps is a successful family-run business with over 60 years’ experience in the water pump industry. As well as catering for private, industrial and commercial clients, the company has a large customer-base within the agricultural sector.

The origins of Glenngorey Pumps can be traced back to 1960 when its founder, PJ Gorey, began working as a well driller and pump fitter in Rathangan, Co. Kildare. The business continues to go from strength to strength under the stewardship of his son and daughter Glenn and Karen Gorey, who supply, service and install water pumps, water softeners, sewage treatment and rainwater harvesting systems. The company currently employs 10 staff with Glenn as managing director, Karen as sales and financial director and PJ as head of sales.

Originally based near the ancient Hill of Allen, Glenngorey Pumps moved to a purpose-built premises in Toughers Business Park, Naas 11 years ago in order to expand its product lines and service to a growing client-base.

A team of qualified engineers are always on hand to service and install the firm’s products throughout the mid-Leinster region and beyond. Services provided include: supply, installation and repair of Lowara deep well, shallow well and submersible pumps, dirty water, progressive cavity and sludge pumps and variable speed and fixed speed water booster pumps. Glenngorey Pumps are the experts in the water business and have introduced the GGp Pressure Boosting System which eliminates low pressure or fluctuating pressure for any application, ensuring constant pressure and flow at peak times. The company offers a large range of pumps, being an agent for Grundfos, Seepex, Pentax and Pedrollo, and also stocks parts for all products.

To solve water quality problems on your farm, dairy or household, Glenngorey Pumps can offer you solutions in water treatment to handle iron, limescale, manganese, sulphur, pH and nitrate to mention a few. It can also treat bacteria, i.e. coliforms by way of UV sterilisation and chlorine dosing. The company supplies and installs Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems for water purification and has a large stock of inline filters and filter housings.

Glenngorey Pumps is an agent for Harlequin Sewage Treatment Systems which are an efficient, economic and environmentally-friendly alternative to either septic tanks or other sewage treatment plants. The Harlequin Hydroclear is the leader in its class, producing an astonishing pollutant removal level of 97%. Carrying full CE accreditation to BS EN12566-3, final values are achieved for BOD, SS and NH4-N of 10:13:6mg/l respectively. It offers lower operating costs, ease of installation and odour minimisation among other benefits.

Glenngorey Pumps can make-to-order sump chambers which is a low-cost solution to tanks overflowing, soak pit overflow and problems after rainfall. The company has a stock of piping, hose, sewer piping and fittings, and is the Irish agent for BIBUS Secoh Air Blowers, so if you have an issue with an air blower, it can repair or replace it for you at its workshop.

The Co. Kildare-based water pump specialist is also an agent for Harlequin Rainwater Harvesting Systems. By recycling your rainwater, these systems can help save up to 50% of your metered water costs and you will also be doing your bit for the environment. Harlequin Rainwater Harvesting Systems reduce the volume of discharged rainwater and contribute to reduce flood risks. The loading on combined sewer overflows is also lowered, resulting in improved river water quality. Designed for easy installation and reliable operation, each system provides the high-quality non-potable rainwater for toilet flushing, washing machines, garden irrigation and vehicle washing purposes.

The trade counter at Glenngorey Pumps is manned from 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 8.30am to 12 noon on Saturdays. Apart from water pumps, many accessories are stocked, including sump pumps and pressure vessels from 8 litres to 300 litres in size, pressure switches and pressure gauges, not-return valves, both Europa and York, Philmac and Jason plastic fittings suitable for Hydrodare and blue MDPE piping. Glenngorey also has a large stock of Gunn Barrel and Brass fittings and piping up to 4” in size. It has stocks of lever valves, gate valves, bushes, nipples and sockets from ½” to 4” in size, in addition to a comprehensive range of capacitors from 4uF to 80uF, overloads, float switches, water meters and solenoid valves.

“Piping and hose is a huge seller for us along with fittings to match whatever the application, while a wide range of flexible and lay flat hose and hose fittings, MDPE piping from 20mm to 90mm are also in stock,” Glenn Gorey says.

“In the unlikely event of us not having something in stock, we can get it for you. We are a one-stop shop for all your water and fluid solution needs.”

Glenn reveals that the agri sector accounts for over half of his company’s business.

“Farmers are our best customers. They cannot afford to be without water and don’t mind spending money when they have it. We supply a lot of pumps and pipes, and also carry out repairs and servicing on farms throughout the Mid-Leinster region. We can supply and install water pumps ranging from ½hp to 10hp. Today, we could be doing a job for a farmer who has 20 cattle. Tomorrow, it could be one who has 5,000. One of the farms we service is the UCD Lyons Research Farm here in Naas.”

He continues: “We do a lot of fit-outs for new milking parlours and also supply effluent pumps. We have supplied a number of rain harvesting systems to tillage farms as well.”

Glenngorey Pumps has built a reputation that is second to none. The family-run concern has four service vehicles on the road repairing, servicing and installing all of their products daily, and guarantees a backup service for all of the products it supplies. The company never fails to live up to its motto which is: “If it flows, we can pump it!”
