Colin Barry Electrical & Dairy Services has been an approved Dairymaster distributor since 2010. Covering Kilkenny, Waterford and parts of Tipperary, the Kilmaganny, Co. Kilkenny-based operation is a one-stop shop for all your Dairymaster needs.
Established by Colin Barry in 2006 primarily as an electrical contracting firm, the company has evolved to encompass both electrical and dairy services, with the latter now accounting for about 60 per cent of its overall business. Dairymaster is a world leader in dairy equipment manufacturing and Colin Barry Electrical & Dairy Services is proud to fly the flag for the brand in its area.
“We provide the full Dairymaster service, including installation, sales and servicing,” Colin explains.
“Along with their milking equipment and milking parlours, we supply feeding systems, automatic scrapers, water pumps, washdown systems, automatic feed systems, fertility monitoring systems, milk cooling tanks and more. When it comes to building a new milking parlour or upgrading one, we can look after your electrical, plumbing and milking machine requirements. We’re able to combine all of those things, which makes life a lot easier for the customer. We look after every aspect of the job with the exception of the concrete works.”
An electrician by trade, Colin is assisted by a crew of eight comprising three fully-qualified and IMQCS registered milking machine technicians and five electricians. Colin Barry Electrical & Dairy Services provides a 24/7 callout service to customers and recommends that milking machines be tested at least once a year to ensure the machine will work well and generally without any breakdowns.
“Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience and will do whatever it takes to make sure the customer is happy,” continues Colin.
“We pride ourselves on our professional, reliable, personal and value-for-money service. We have built up a large client-base over the past number of years and have worked hard to gain their trust, confidence and support. Kilmaganny is only 14 miles from Kilkenny and 16 miles from Waterford, so we’re very central in terms of the area we cover. We have five vans on the road, so we’re never too far from our customers.
“Business is good at the moment. Things have picked up a lot since milk quotas were lifted in 2015. We’re installing between 10 and 15 milking parlours and up to 70 automatic scrapers a year. Dairymaster has a great name which often makes their products an easy sell.”
Committed to being the world’s best, Dairymaster employs almost 400 people at its 11-acre manufacturing facility in Causeway, Co. Kerry and also has facilities in the UK and USA, serving customers in over 40 countries. Dairymaster has attained international acclaim for manufacturing superior, hi-tech dairy equipment. Farmers using their technology increase milk yield, reduce milking times, cut energy costs, decrease labour and improve herd health and conception rates.
Innovation is everywhere at Dairymaster’s global headquarters in Causeway. When they can’t find a machine to do what they need, they build their own. Dairymaster has filed for over 90 patents, while their drive to succeed is strengthened by the popularity of their products across the world. Dairymaster places huge emphasis on Research & Development in order to provide the most technologically advanced, high performance equipment, bringing optimum efficiency and utmost comfort for the operator and cow.
The electrical contracting side of the business is also doing well. Specialising in domestic, agriculture, commercial and industrial work, Colin Barry Electrical & Dairy Services has established itself as a highly-regarded and innovative player in the sector. The Safe Electric member has completed a diverse range of contracts and is well served by a highly-skilled and versatile team of electricians who have received the highest standard of training. Indeed, many of them engage in constant upskilling to keep abreast of all the latest developments within the industry.
With Colin Barry Electrical & Dairy Services, an unrivalled service and dedicated customer care is assured. As with its dairy services, the firm works closely with clients to understand their needs and can tailor its methods and service to suit their individual requirements. Offering a wealth of industry experience, it delivers outstanding results and is renowned for quality, expertise, attention to detail, time frame and value-for-money.
At the time of writing, Colin Barry was preparing to open his own agri store in the old Castlehale Creamery premises. The store will stock the full range of Dairymaster products and parts as well as a wide range of products for the farm, including clothing and hardware.
“The store will complement what we already have. It will open in September and will be managed by Vinny Purcell. It’s an exciting time for us and we’re confident that the local farming community will get behind us and make the store a success,” he says.
Colin concludes by thanking his customers for their continued support and loyalty.
