Clive Pratt Garages in Co Cavan celebrated 30 years in business in 2018, so Irish Tractor & Agri felt it was time to learn all about a company which specialises in sourcing and supplying agricultural equipment from the man himself.
Based in Cavan Town, Clive Pratt Garages has earned itself a reputation down through the years for its “excellence and service” according its namesake Managing Director.
Three decades on from when Clive first took the decision to go out on his own, business is just about as good as it has ever been and the Breffni County native intends to keep things that way heading into 2019.
Putting it in the simplest terms, Clive Pratt Garages are specialists in sourcing and supplying tractors, agricultural equipment, cars, jeeps and vans both locally and nationally.
The company has an extensive parts range and also provide service options which serves to make it a complete one-stop shop for customers.
Becoming DEUTZ-FAHR agents at the end of 2017 and getting back the Lamborghini agency has helped to add a nice mix of customers, according to Clive, who was good enough to take time recently to tell Irish Tractor & Agri all about the thriving firm.
“I set this up as a new business 30 years ago and then my son Richard came on board in 2011,” explained Clive.
“We started with SAME in 1999 and we’re agents for them in counties Cavan, Monaghan and Leitrim and we took on DEUTZ-FAHR at the end of last year. Lamborghini completes the SFC line-up.
“Right now we have six staff working here and basically we provide our customers with sales, a workshop and service, with a van on the road as well. We import cars and tractors on a weekly basis from the UK.”
This year saw Clive taking on a new venture himself in multi-fuel stoves which has been “going well” since the winter set in. The company also does reconditioned stoves for all vehicles.
“It’s something that we thought might go well and thankfully it has so far,” he stated. “We also do a lot of NCT repair and prep work. It’s something we’ve always done here and, again, it’s another service that helps us as a one-stop shop.”
Clive Pratt Garages offers its customers an online ordering service through its website – www.clive-pratt.com – and making a purchase from the site is very straightforward.
Customers can browse the site and contact the company with their requirements, either via email or through the office in Cavan.
Clive Pratt Garages have agreements with several reputable finance companies and you can be guaranteed that they will try to find the best deal for you.
Whether its tractors, cars, jeeps or vans you are looking for, Clive and the team in Cavan can make sure you’re looked after.
It’s that kind of excellent service which sees the company thriving as well as ever three decades after its inception and the hope is to keep on improving with a new year just around the corner.
“Business is good. It’s getting back to what is was and taking on DEUTZ has helped to bring in a new mix of customers,” said Clive.
“We’d be selling second hand tractors throughout the country and I’d just like to point out that we have a large selection of clean second hand tractors from the UK here.”
As a main dealer for SAME and recently appointed DEUTZ tractor dealer for Cavan, Monaghan and Leitrim, Clive Pratt Garages is open from Monday to Friday (9am to 6pm) and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Ask Clive what the secret to his company’s success has been over the years and he’ll put it to you plainly:
“We’d be well known around the area for our service over the years. So I think the reason why our customers come to us is they know they’re going to get excellence and service.
“Most of our business here is repeat business and we’ve had a lot of business from DoneDeal as well. I’d like to thank our loyal customers for the continued support they’ve shown us over the years,” the Cavan man concluded.
Clive Pratt Garages’ available stock is constantly changing and they will often sell machinery before it has been advertised on its website’s For Sale pages. If you have an agricultural machinery requirement, or have machinery you wish to sell, please be sure to contact them without delay.
