Blaney Motor release reaches new heights

20 Sep , 2016

Irish manufacturer Blaney Motor is thrilled to launch a third wheeled loader concept on its stand at National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore.   The exciting unveil took place in front of an audience of invited guests, including dealers and industry representatives on the Blaney Motor Company stand on Tuesday morning.

Blaney’s wheeled loaders are specifically designed to be compact for manoeuvrability and mobility, with a focus on their multipurpose use.  Thanks to their weight and size, these loaders can be easily transported on a trailer under 3.5 Tonnes and can be used in areas where space is restricted. Blaney showcased the L1 10-27 pivot steer model with a working demonstration on their stand at the Ploughing, which pulled in a crowd attentive to the small but powerful and nimble machine, opening up many minds to the consider how they could put it to use on their construction site or business.  The newest model to be unveiled is the TL1 10-33, a pivot steer machine with telescopic reach.

The Blaney loaders have already received great interest and this new telescopic model within just a few hours of being unveiled at the show has had serious enquiries from those involved in plant hire, construction, amenities, road works, self-build, farming, equestrian and landscaping.  The R&D team and engineers at Blaney Motor have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from visitors to the show and look forward to organising demonstration events in the coming months.

Blaney Motor, based in Co Antrim is a division of the Blaney Group, which has over 20 years’ experience in design and manufacture.  Established brands including Quad-X ATV equipment and Blaney Agri tractor machinery are also part of the group, which gives the engineering company great synergy and a valuable understanding of the need for tailored machines and multipurpose attachments to get the job done.   This has given Blaney the edge when designing machines since they are able to develop a vehicle with ground-breaking features which offers a complete solution to many tasks.  Those involved in construction and plant are often concerned with reducing labour costs and improving efficiency and Blaney have revealed yet another machine which can help.  The new Blaney compact wheeled loaders are ideal for a host of tasks around the construction site, from Greenfield site to finished building.

Blaney have developed these compact loaders around the need to be mobile and easy to transport. With contractors in a number of trades travelling around from job to job they are attracted by the ability to transport the compact loaders easily.  This avoids security issues since the loaders can be easily taken off site on a daily basis to reduce the risk of damage and theft.  The compact nature of these machines allows them to be brought to the site with other materials and equipment, allowing you to unload everything, get the job done and then load up again at the end of the day without relying on any other vehicle.  The ease of transport is a huge factor for plant hire centres whose demand is from customers ranging from ‘self-build’, to landscapers to those supplying portaloos!

The Blaney loaders have been designed to be simple to operate, with all the controls at your fingertips.  For those with multiple vehicle operators and various skill levels, the Blaney design incorporates easy controls for any novice.  Blaney engineers have paid close attention to the need to hop on/ hop off quickly and have incorporated a design for easy driver access.

Given their manoeuvrability, the Blaney compact loaders can be used to replace many jobs done manually or using a wheel barrow, which helps avoid the increased concern for health and safety around lifting weights over 25kg.  Their small size and tight turning circle allows them to get in close to finished property where larger telehandlers would pose a risk of damage.  Given the increased emphasis on higher density housing schemes, the result is less space to operate when jobs are nearing completion.  This means jobs such as levelling and sweeping, installing patios and fencing can be done more quickly and more easily using a compact loader.  Thanks to good all round vision these jobs can also be done more safely.

Even on small house building sites self-erecting cranes have become a common sight in the last decade.  Traditionally larger scale handlers are used to bring materials to these, taking them away from critical areas of work, when 80% of the loads are sub 1 ton. While larger telehandlers are ideal for high level reach, they are not the most efficient or effective for most jobs.  The compact Blaney loader makes the ideal ‘feeder’ vehicle, improving efficiency.

Equipped with flotation tyres and coupled with a lightweight body, 4 times lighter than a typical 2.5T machine, the Blaney loader is ideal for difficult conditions to minimise ground damage.

Blaney ‘s compact loaders are multifunctional and although small in size, they are more than capable of many jobs done by larger scale telehandlers. This segment at the small end of the market is often forgotten about, but one that Blaney is set to revolutionise. With Blaney’s experience in the attachment sector they offer a range of off-highway vehicles that are multipurpose and versatile, by offering a wide range of attachments.  Blaney are set to transform the industry by offering a machine that can ‘do more with less’.  With clever design and smart attachments, backed by a heritage in innovation the uses are limitless.  Blaney see the loaders offering a solution to jobs including: loading and off-loading, moving earth, kerbing, paving, fencing, sweeping, landscaping, hedge cutting, levelling and mixing cement.  With a compact size and impressive reach the machines can be used to give access to those working at height.

Unveiled on the stand was the TL1 10-33, a compact wheel loader with a lifting capacity of one tonne and a telescopic reach of 3.3m.  The engine is rated 40hp and the unit has a hydrostatic transmission with four wheel drive limited slip differential.  It has been developed to have the capability to stack pallets, load a dump trailer or reach for working at height.

Special attention has been given to the design of this exciting machine in transferring tractive effort to the wheels during loading or pushing material.   The issue with most small machines until now is they don’t have the dead weight down force seen with larger machine.  Blaney design engineers have made significant improvement in this, in the design of the TL1 10-33. The geometrical design has made significant advances in allowing the machine to increase and maintain traction during pile break out when loading buckets and pushing materials.  This makes for a truly impressive machine.

As with all the Blaney loaders we have seen so far, the Blaney TL1 10-33 is one of the easiest machines to access for all servicing and routine maintenance.  This is a welcome change from so many compact machines being difficult to repair which increases down time and results in longer repair times and more expense.  Uniquely on the TL1 10-33 everything is accessible under the seat bonnet including transmission, engine, cooling and hydraulics.

Alison Duncan, Dealer Development Manager is excited by the interest in the Blaney range.  She tells us, “Over the last few months since our first concept unveil we have been thrilled with the interest in the Blaney loaders.  We have travelled throughout Ireland on demonstration events and have been overwhelmed by the attention from customers and dealers who all admire Blaney’s innovative approach to design and ability to tailor machines.  For everyone we speak to, it is a key feature that the machines are designed and built in Ireland giving peace of mind when making an investment.”
