The fuel injection specialists

17 Feb , 2022

Between investing in state-of-the-art technology and launching an e-commerce website (www.des.ie), Diesel Engineering Services Ltd is always ahead of the curve in the fuel injection market. The Shercock, Co Cavan based company has been servicing the needs of the local agricultural sector and beyond for over 50 years.

Diesel Engineering Services Ltd has always taken pride in embracing the latest technology and, to that end, they launched the Bosch DCI700 test bench in March of last year.

The first of its kind in Ireland, Bosch’s newest and highest spec test bench to date promises to offer the most precise results in the quickest times in the diesel fuel injection service industry and Managing Director Colin Courtney says it doesn’t disappoint.

“It’s the quickest and most accurate test bench in the market and, going forward, all technology with Bosch, any new releases, will be on that one exclusively,” he informed Irish Tractor & Agri. “We are the first in Ireland to have it.”

So, is it fair to say that it has lived up to expectation? “Absolutely, and more! It is game changing technology.”

Diesel Engineering Services Ltd has been an ever-present on the Cavan landscape since 1968. Established by Colin’s grandfather Michael, they specialise in the diagnosis, repair and re-manufacturing of all types of fuel injection equipment (including Bosch, Delphi, Denso, Stanadyne, Zexel, Yanmar, Diesel Kiki and more).

This includes technologically advanced state-of-the-art electronic diesel control (EDC) systems for both cars and commercial vehicles while they were the first company in the UK and Ireland to offer to their customers Bosch VP44, VP30/29 and Commonrail pump testing and repair.

In 2016 they were given full manufacturer authorisation to offer testing and repairs to Bosch CP4 pumps.

With over five decades in operation, Diesel Engineering Services has evolved alongside the advances in diesel injection technology.

As technology has shifted from mechanical to electronic systems their technical expertise has also evolved. The current success and expertise of the company can be directly attributed to the experience and ongoing investment in fuel injection equipment – keeping the business in step with advances in the diesel industry, investing in technology and training with an underlying vision of providing a quality service.

Diesel Engineering Services has built a deserved reputation as Ireland’s leading diesel injection specialists, based on its total commitment to excellence – in both its products and in the comprehensive service to customers.

The progressive company had this commitment officially recognised in May 1998 when it became the first independent company in its field to gain IS EN ISO 9002 accreditation – a fitting tribute to the company in its 30th anniversary year.

A second large facility garages the only commercially available chassis dynamometer or rolling road in Ireland.  This 850BHP Dynamometer, together with a fully equipped, state of the art tune-up bay is invaluable in the diagnosis and repair of problems which allows them to maximise engine performance of all cars, vans and commercial vehicles.

Open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.30pm, Diesel Engineering Services Ltd currently has nine employees on the payroll, including Colin’s uncle, Michael junior, and Colin – who took over as Managing Director from his father Brian in 2014 –  was pleased to report that demand for their services and products is high at this point in time.

“We recondition all major brands of pumps and injectors and turbo chargers also,” he said, referring specifically to the agricultural sector. “We also do a removal and refit service for tractor pumps and injectors if required.

“Overall, business has been very good.  We have been very busy this last year or so. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have a lot of loyal and repeat clients across all sectors, from the private, light and heavy commercial, marine, agri, industrial, pretty much all sectors.”

Colin added: “Quality is the main thing, everything Bosch common rail wise has to go on to a quality scan system. It has to pass the test in order to go on to that system. That subsequently goes on to a database where the customer can scan the code of their phone just to ensure it does meet Bosch quality standard. That provides peace of mind for the customer.”

Looking ahead to the future, Colin has no intention of resting on his laurels and revealed that there are plans for further expansion in the pipeline.

“We are looking at several different things to add to our repertoire. We’re in the middle of that process at the moment. There will always be a place for diesel irrespective of the challenges ahead and we will be here to service that.

“We’re here with 50 years of experience and provide a good service with fully traceable authorised repairs. We use genuine parts and everything here is done by the book.

“We very much base our business on honesty and integrity and, most importantly, what the customer needs.”
