Established in 2010, Farmworks Machinery Ltd is a Fendt Dealership which services North Dublin and its surrounding areas. Irish Tractor & Agri spoke with Brian Duane in the company’s Sales Department to find out more about this thriving business which provides exceptional levels of service befitting of the best brand out there.
Business is good right now at Farmworks Machinery Ltd and the plan down in Doorge, Co Dublin is to try and keep things that way right through to 2022.
Set-up by Ciaran Tierney in February 2010, the company has grown from strength to strength over the past decade as a main Fendt Dealership that services the north of Dublin and its surrounding areas.
Indeed, Farmworks Machinery Ltd took on the full Fendt franchise five years ago and hasn’t looked back since.
Irish Tractor & Agri touched base with Brian Duane (Sales) recently to hear all about the current state of business for the company and the most popular machines passing through its gates these days.
“We got off to a good start in the spring (of this year) anyway and we’re hoping for another busy summer here,” said Brian, who joined the team at Farmworks Machinery Ltd in September 2017.
“I look after the Sales end here and, even with the Covid pandemic and the lockdowns, business is good. Thankfully, farmers haven’t been too badly affected by it.”
The Covid-19 pandemic, and the government lockdowns which have followed in order to try and combat the spread of the virus, have had their effects on businesses nationwide.
For the most part, the agricultural industry in Ireland has been spared the worst portions of the pandemic and at Farmworks Machinery Ltd, it’s business as usual.
The company operates with five full-time staff from its excellent premises in the capital.
Dooroge, Ballyboughal, Co Dublin became its new home in September 2019 as the business continues to service customers all over North Dublin and its surrounding areas, including the north east of the country.
“Along with Dublin, we have customers from all over the north east coming to us, including Louth, Kildare, Meath and into Monaghan as well,” Brian outlined.
“Repeat business has been crucial to our growth here, so we make it a priority to try and keep our existing customers and also try and get into new farms as well if we can.”
Of course, selling a quality product helps the cause and, when it comes to agricultural machinery, there’s none better than Fendt.

“We’ve been a Fendt dealer for five years now and right now the most popular machine on offer here is the 700 Series,” said Brian.
“The 700 Series and the 720 Series are our most popular amongst customers. The Fendt range of sprayers are becoming more popular over the last two or three years. We find these machines, both self-propelled and trailed units, are the perfect machines to meet the needs of the medium to large scale growers.”
Alongside Fendt, Farmworks Machinery Ltd is also a main dealer for Kuhn agricultural machinery and Güttler Ireland, ensuring that there is certainly something for everybody.
“The Kuhn tillage range has proven to be a big success for us, particularly the ploughs for their ability to handle and bury large volumes of trash. The Kuhn powerharrows and sprayers are also popular with our customers. There seems to be a shift towards min-till for the cereal growers in our area so to cater for this we will be running a demo Kuhn Espro Min-till Drill this autumn with the seed and fert option.”
The last couple of years has also seen the company selling the first Fendt Combine in Ireland and it has proven to be a very reliable machine and they are planning to build on the success of this over the coming seasons.

Almost 11 years on from its inception, the burning question is what has been the secret to success to date for Farmworks Machinery Ltd?
According to Brian Duane, a quality product on offer and reliability for your customers go a long way in this line of work.
“I think everything has gotten so expensive and the gap has gotten smaller between the large agri machinery sales companies and the smaller one,” he said.
“The gap’s smaller when it comes to Fendt as well and I think that our reliability and back up service here is second to one.
“The medium-sized farmer is looking to technology now more than ever perhaps, so Fendt is the machine that they’re going for.”
Looking towards the coming months, Brian says the company will be looking to sustain its current rate of business down in Dooroge and grow its customer base further as government restrictions continue to ease.
“We just want to keep going and try and keep business like it was at the start of the year,” he stated.
“Thankfully, we were always open here. We didn’t shut down at all and just moved to a delivery pick up service for our customers.
“Hopefully, things will start to open up more and more now in the coming months and we’ll get back to some sort of normality.
