Lunney Tractors Ltd is a leading supplier of Massey Ferguson tractors and agri equipment based in Newtowngore, Co. Leitrim.
The family-run business also stocks a large range of new and used tractors and farm machinery, and is an agent for several other well-known brands.
Lunney Tractors has been a main dealer for Massey Ferguson tractors for counties Leitrim, Cavan and Sligo since Kevin Lunney founded the company almost 40 years ago. Since Lely became part of the Massey Ferguson family two years ago, Lunney Tractors has been a full line dealer for Massey. This means it now caters for the full Massey range, from tractors and loaders to mowers, rakes, tedders, balers and material-handling equipment.
“We were dealers for Lely grass equipment before the takeover so the only difference is the badge,” Adrian Lunney – Kevin’s son – explains.
“Having said that, it’s great to be able to offer our customers the full Massey range. Irish farmers have had a special affinity with Massey Ferguson going back generations and we’re proud to fly the flag for them in Leitrim, Cavan and Sligo.
“We have 40 years’ experience working with the brand, from the original Massey 35 tractor and square baler up to the new top-of-the-range 7770 Series and new balers.”
When it comes to selling tractors in Ireland, Massey Ferguson has no equal. It was the number one tractor brand in the country once again in 2017, with 18,021 licenced. Its nearest rival was John Deere with 11,821 tractors licenced. Massey sold 400 units, which is 22.3% of the market share for new tractors.
“The 6712 and 6715 are our best-selling models. Tractor and machinery sales are good in general. The uncertainty surrounding Brexit caused a bit of a slowdown a while back, but farming has to keep going and that seems to be the attitude of most farmers. Brexit might never happen,” Adrian says.
“Our customers choose Massey because of their outstanding reputation for quality and aftersales as well as their excellent second-hand value. The finance options available from AGCO Finance makes the full range of Massey Ferguson tractors and machinery more affordable.”
Lunney Tractors is a long-established family business whose primary focus is the supply of the full Massey Ferguson range to the surrounding area. Its experienced team is fully trained up to Massey Ferguson standards and will endeavour to help you with any queries you may have relating to a new purchase or the maintenance of your existing equipment. The garage offers a comprehensive range of new, used and remanufactured tractors, agricultural machinery and spare parts. Workshop servicing and repairs, breakdown and delivery facilities are also available.
A member of the Farm Tractor & Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA), Lunney Tractors is also main dealer for Kverneland-Taarup rakes and mowers, Vicon fertiliser spreaders, Hardi sprayers, Abbey slurry spreaders, SIP tedders, rakes and mowers, Jarmet spreaders and sprayers, and Strautman diet feeders. Kverneland rakes and mowers are selling very well this year.
Lunney Tractors only recently took on the SIP dealership and Adrian has been delighted with the number of sales and enquiries so far. SIP, with its headquarters in Slovenia (known as the engineering capital of the region), has over 60 years’ experience in the manufacture of farm machinery and was the first company to develop a twin rotor rake. SIP operates from an industry-leading manufacturing facility covering an impressive eight hectares. SIP are experts in grass machinery and produce a range of high-quality professional mowers, tedders and rakes.
In the past, SIP manufactured grass machines for well-known German and Austrian manufacturers. They gained valuable experience which has been very beneficial in developing their own range of machines. The SIP range includes machines for the private user and the large-scale operator. The company caters for the quality end of the market and all of their production is built to a high standard using high quality components (e.g. SKF and Walterscheid), and is backed up by a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
The impressive build quality is enhanced by a really high quality KTL and powder-coated paint system. SIP are highly-regarded for the quality of their paint system and have for many years being painting components for some of the premium brands in the automotive industry.
SIP exports over 80% production to 55 countries worldwide. Irish importers Farmec are fully confident that the equipment manufactured by SIP is ideally suited to the demanding Irish market conditions. Many of the SIP machines have unique and patented innovations.
Open from 9am to 6pm Monday-Friday, Lunney Tractors prides itself on its professional and friendly service and the great savings it offers on servicing and parts. Adrian concludes by thanking his many customers for their business and continued support.
