Established by brothers Clayton and Dale Wilson in 2010, Wilson Developments has grown and developed over the years and has established an excellent and respected reputation for producing work of the highest standard.

Clayton picked up a lot of good habits when working for his uncle Derek Niblock’s concrete business while it was the same story for Dale who learned the tricks of the trade when working for another uncle’s company.
“Things got quiet around 2010 and my uncle retired from his concrete and farm buildings work so myself and Dale decided to go out on our own,” Clayton recalled in conversation with Irish Tractor & Agri magazine.
“We started out with just the two of us at the start and another man driving machines for us. Today we have nine employees, including carpenters, steel fixers, grounds men and drivers.”
Operating a modern fleet of plant and machinery, Wilson Developments Civil specialise in site works, formwork, ground surveying, concrete finishing (laser screening), plate testing, steel works and steel fixing. All works are engineered certified and fully insured.
Renewable construction is another string they have added to their bow in recent years. Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is the process which involves the breakdown of organic material by bacteria in an oxygen-free environment to create biogas.
Farm, municipal and industrial based plants convert waste material into biogas. Agricultural wastes (animal residues, sewage sludge) and industrial waste (food/canteen waste, waste vegetable oils) are the most common feedstocks used in the AD conversion process.
Waste material is fed into a digester which contains bacteria. The digester is a closed container and contains zero oxygen. The biogas produced is used for heat and power and the process residue can then be used as a fertiliser.
Currently in the Republic of Ireland, there are only six anaerobic digestion plants, mostly in the south and south-east of the country, this is compared with 26 in Northern Ireland. This is an area which has potential to grow, with the help of policy development and financial incentives to support the industry.
“Farm buildings is our main focus – silos, slated tanks etc while we have done a lot of work in the renewable end of things, anaerobic digesters, in the north,” Clayton explained. “We cover all of the north as well as Monaghan, Cavan and Meath. We’ve also done a lot of work in Scotland and England since 2013.”
The experience built up by Clayton and Dale enables them to advise clients on the precise requirements and specification which is best suited for their particular project. They pride themselves in providing a professional service to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
“We very busy at the moment and we have built up good relationships with the farmers we work for. A lot of our work is secured through word of mouth and we have a lot of repeat clients. The only ones we don’t do work for again are the ones that don’t pay!” Clayton quipped.
“We always strive to do the best job we possibly can. We don’t go in and assume it’s just another farm yard. The quality of our work is the main thing and weet jobs done in a good timescale. We’re very optimistic about the future because there is a very high demand for our work at the minute. “
