F-CON Civil and Structural Engineering offers a five-star quality of product and service. Irish Tractor & Agri spoke to MD Stephen Fitzpatrick to find out what they’re about.
Ideally located in the country’s Midlands, F-CON Civil and Structural Engineering and its staff have years of experience delivering high quality civil and structural engineering projects.
The company was founded by Stephen Fitzpatrick in 2012 and his mantra has always been to place a great emphasis on offering superior quality of product and customer service, with all projects designed to meet the customers’ individual needs.
Based between Portarlington and Rathangan, F-CON have completed projects in many counties all over Ireland and boast years of experience in the building and engineering sector.
They complete their projects to the highest standards by using the best materials, with all projects designed to suit the needs of each individual customer.
F-CON offers a wide range of products and services which includes; Structural Steel, Sheeting & Cladding, Structural Concrete, Foundations & Groundworks, Plant Hire & Drainage, Flatpack Sheds and Agriculttural Buildings.
Since starting up his venture, Stephen has always maintained that gaining repeat business from satisfied customers was the name of the game for him.
“We’re established three years and we have six staff here now. I’ve a brother (Robert) here helping me out as well,” explained Stephen.
“What we do is mainly farm buildings and industrial buildings, offering turn-key package to the customer. Once the customer is happy with the job we’ve done you’ll have a strong chance that he’ll be calling you again for the next job.”
F-CON uses its sister company PFM fabrication for the completion of all its structural steel, PFM fabrication has achieved compliance with the requirements of I.S. EN 1090 for CE marking of structural steel up to execution class 2.
The company’s premises has a large capacity at 8,500 square feet where they have assembled a state-of-the-art fabrication warehouse. This enables them to ensure that the steel they use in their construction projects is detailed to the highest specifications.
F-CON, after all, is a leading supplier of structural steel buildings and components to the Commercial, Domestic and Agricultural sectors and all the buildings fabricated in its workshop are designed to suit each individual customer.
They have a diverse range of capabilities to suit your manufacturing and construction needs, and can take on the whole project in a turnkey package or they can be subcontracted to complete specialist works.
F-CON also sell structural steel in a flat-pack format to customers who want to complete their own installation.
Stephen’s background before starting the company had been in always been in Civil and Structural Engineering – it’s what he loves to do – so, from his perspective, it only made since to start his own company and see where he could take it from there.
So far, it has been going well and one can tell by his tone that he’s excited for the future.
“When I finished school, I had been doing this kind of work so it eventually got to the point where I decided to go out on my own,” said Stephen.
“I feel that I’m very good at what I do and we as a team work extremely hard to ensure that quality work & customer satisfaction is achieved at all times. I’m happy to report that we’re quite busy at the moment.”
“Coming into the Christmas time would usually be the busiest time of year, hopefully that trend will continue again, and we’re just happy to be kept busy at the minute.”
F-CON have also invested in and embraced new techniques in their industry and keep themselves up to date with advances in products and materials. As such, you will find they provide a comprehensive range of services that can be adapted to any project type or design.
Stephen and his team can offer all of their customers a complete Sheeting and Cladding systems service, including all types of works from the smallest repair to an entire roof and wall system.
F-CON have years of experience and have completed many projects in the formwork and steel fixing industry. They set the highest standards in reinforced concrete construction and offer a broad range of skill and knowledge. F-CON use both prefabricated formwork systems and made on site timber formwork to suit more bespoke projects.
F-CON provide an experienced and reliable service to their customers. They can complete Slatted Tanks, Soilage Pits and Dung Steads in any shape or size to suit the customers’ own personal requirements.
Also provided are CAD drawings of all projects before the build commences, allowing the customer to review it and request any changes they would prefer. F-CON will complete all foundation and concrete works, finished to the highest standards.
Stephen and co place great emphasis on neatness and attention to detail on all projects and always aims to ensure minimum disruption to the customer while working on a project.
“We’d do around 20 farm buildings a year but what would keep us busy all year round is the various different types of work that we do,” said the Managing Director.
“Any customer likes to deal with the one person, so what we aim to do is quality finished work that keeps them coming back to us. Our biggest aim is to be able to go back to the same customer because they’re happy with the last job we’ve done for them.”
He added: “We would like to think we are competitive with our prices for the standard of work completed, with us we give a farmers’ yard every bit as much attention as any industrial or commercial project.”
F-CON supply and erect a wide range of agricultural buildings, arriving to site the with high quality equipment required to complete the highest standards of work. The company is fully insured and adhere to stringent health and safety regulations ensuring optimum working conditions for each project.
F-CON provides for a wide range of roof covering systems which can be seen on the company’s website (www.f-con.ie) and at the moment they are occupied with a few projects, as their MD explained:
“We’re doing a cubicle house at the minute, we did a milking parlour for the same customer before and now we’re back in the same yard again. As I said, that’s what we aim for.”
Stephen and his team can work with the customer on Milking Parlour projects from as early as design stage, providing construction drawings (including Plans, Elevations, Layouts etc) all completed to Department of Agriculture minimum specifications S101 & S106.
They understand the need of dairy farmers to have their construction work completed through the closed period of milking or the fact that farmers need to remain milking while the construction process is on-going. That’s why, at all times, they make every effort to facilitate the farmer’s needs while working on a project.
