Your New Holland dealer in the West

24 Jun , 2021

O’Brien’s Tractors in Bunnanadden, Co. Sligo has been proud to fly the flag for New Holland in the West of Ireland for the past decade.

Celebrating 10 years as a New Holland dealer, the family-run business continues to go from strength to strength by offering an unrivalled service to an expanding customer-base. O’Brien’s Tractors prides itself on its extensive range of new and used tractors, product knowledge and customer service.

A one-stop shop for all your New Holland tractor and loader needs, the dealership represents the global brand in counties Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and Roscommon. It is committed to providing a professional and high-quality service to meet the growing requirements of its customers along with knowledge and understanding of the industry that will ultimately benefit them.

Adrian O’Brien established O’Brien’s Tractors in October 1999 after gaining many years of experience working for his father Jimmy, who has run O’Brien Tractors in Bohola, Co. Mayo since 1970. Adrian is joined by his wife Tara who explains the background to the dealership which boasts a state-of-the-art workshop, spares department and a large indoor area which protects the tractors from the elements and ensures they are looking their best.

“Tractors are in Adrian’s blood. He served his time as a mechanic with his father and has amassed a wealth of experience in services and sales,” she says.

“When he set up the business here in Bunnanadden, which is near Ballymote and is a 45-minute drive from our home in Bohola, we operated from a small premises which has gradually been extended over the years. It was first extended to include a full service workshop, parts store and administration area, with a large indoor forecourt area being added two years ago. We’re currently building another indoor area to cater for our growing range of new and used tractors.

“All of the tractors are kept indoors to shield them from the harsh West of Ireland climate and to ensure they’re well presented. We have been main New Holland dealers for Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and Roscommon since 2011, having previously held the Landini, McCormick and Ursus franchises. New Holland is a fantastic brand to be associated with and has a very strong presence in our area.”

O’Brien’s Tractors stock the full New Holland range, from the 25-30hp Boomer Easy Drive to the stunningly imposing T6 4B. According to Tara, the 110-140hp T5 range, which includes the Utility, Electro-Command and Auto-Command, are especially suited to farmers in the West of Ireland.

Whether it is doing loader work, working with front or rear-mounted implements or simply travelling down the road, the New Holland T5 delivers premium features in a compact package. The range has been designed to be the ultimate all-rounder for today’s modern mixed farms.

“We sell a lot more T5s than T4s and T6s because of the type of farmer we deal with. We sold our first Boomer in the middle of last year and they have proven to be very popular with customers who are involved in horticulture or the sports field sector.”

In addition to new tractors and loaders, O’Brien’s Tractors stocks a wide range of used tractors for all the leading brands at all times. The dealership has an excellent reputation for sourcing high-quality tractors to suit every pocket and requirement.

“We have a huge selection of second hands in stock,” Tara continues.

“Most of them are trade-ins from repeat customers. We have found that there is a strong market for three-to-four-year-old trade-ins with low hours. There is also a good market for quality, used tractors from the UK. We listen to our customers’ needs and desires before sourcing the right tractor for them. Anything we sell we service. We can also source any make of loader. We have something for everyone.”

Tara is glad to report that COVID-19 hasn’t had an adverse effect on business.

“There was a lot of uncertainty when the first lockdown was announced in March of last year, but things eventually settled down and what has really stood to us during these challenging times has been our willingness to embrace modern technology. We sell many tractors and loaders through our website, while WhatsApp has proven to be a vital tool for viewing products from a buying and selling perspective.

“Our opening honours are 9am-6pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am-1pm on Saturdays but, as a family business, we’re always at the end of the phone. We can also provide and arrange the keenest finance packages through the DLL Group.”

O’Brien Tractors service all tractor models and are specialists in New Holland parts. Its spare parts store carries a large range of parts for every make / model of tractor and machine, as well as oils, grease and bolts. New Holland Tractor Original Parts are the only parts which meet exactly all the quality requirements essential for the optimum operation of your equipment. The parts department is fully computerised and any part you need that is not in stock can be obtained overnight. Parts can also be sent to anywhere in the country.

“We are passionate about New Holland and pride ourselves on our reliable, friendly and value-for-money service,” adds Tara, who concludes by thanking O’Brien’s Tractors’ customers and suppliers for their continued support, and staff for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
