Started from humble beginnings back in 1958 by Samuel Cole, the name West Wood Trailers is synonymous with high quality trailers in Ireland. Offering the highest standard of sales and after-sales is at the core of the business according to Alan Cole.

West Wood Trailers was established in 1958 and over that period the company has grown to be one of the largest trailer companies in Ireland, representing the largest trailer manufacturer in Europe, Ifor Williams Trailers Ltd.

They offer their customers a large range of trailers with over 350 models to choose from which can be all viewed at their extensive showrooms in Naas, Co. Kildare.

Their wide and varied product range includes Horse boxes, Livestock, General Purpose, Plant, Flatbed, BoxVan and Domestic Trailers as well as Tippers, Horse box Containers and pick-up canopies, together with an extensive range of extras and accessories to suit each varied model backed up with a huge parts department.

Currently employing 18, West-Wood also manufacture to customer specifications and they currently manufacture for local authorities, County Councils and Department of Defence. All trailers conform to EU braking and lighting standards.

The company’s philosophy is to supply high quality trailers that combine high technology with strength, durability, ease of maintenance and value for money.

They above all try to ensure that every customer they deal with is 100% satisfied and if there is any problem, large or small, they have always tried to resolve it to the best of their ability to the customer’s satisfaction.

Alan Cole, son of founder Samuel, joined the company in 1986 and the father and son partnership has been very successful, working together to grow the company and continuously building on a very good reputation.

“Our loyal customers are our biggest strength,” Alan stated.

“We’re a customer driven company first and foremost and our reputation for looking after our customers speaks for itself.

“We’ve a huge customer base and word of mouth has played a central role in helping to grow that down through the years. A lot of our sales are generated by recommendations.

“Our customers can choose from over 350 different models which means we have something for everyone.”

Whether your Ifor Williams trailer is thirty years old (there are plenty of them still out there!) or nearly new, you can rest assured that your trailer is built to the highest standards and specification.

“The build and design quality,” was Alan’s reply when asked: what are the key selling points of the Ifor Williams brand? “They are built to be strong and durable but because of the technology used in the manufacturing process they are strong without adding extra weight. When customers are asked about their Ifor Williams trailer, they’re reply is always that they tow better than any other trailer.”

It is very important that trailers are serviced regularly for both your own and other road users safety. It will also prolong the life of most mechanical parts and in the long run it saves you time and money.

West Wood Trailers’ experienced staff in their fully equipped workshop can deal with all repairs, servicing and modifications. Their workshop staff are Ifor Williams Trailers accredited service technicians, qualifying through the main manufacturing plant.

With all parts availability on their shelves, they can offer full service turnaround, usually within a day or two depending on the work environment.
Their parts team are on call everyday to handle all parts sales and queries over the counter and by phone and all stocked parts ordered are delivered to the customer’s door within 48 hours nationwide.

“We generally have half a million spare parts in stock which allows us fix a trailer there and then, customers are not left waiting.

“We cover all our own warranties and even if a trailer is outside warranty and we feel it should be covered, we’ll repair it there and then.

“People talk a lot about price. Another make of trailer might be cheaper but when you balance out back-up and service and re-sale value, it is a very competitively priced trailer and you get what you pay for. The day we cut corners and half do a job is the day we’ll close our doors. We’re not interested in that.”

West Wood Trailers hasn’t been immune from the negative repercussions of the economic downturn but Alan has noticed some green shoots of recovery in the trailer market.

“Business has improved since September of last year. We have seen a gradual improvement but a lot of it has come in Dublin and the surrounding areas. We are confident that this will spread out to the rest of the country over the next year .”

As a customer focussed company for over 50 years, having embraced new technologies and catered for the needs of their customers, West Wood Trailers are proud of their philosophy in providing excellent customer service at all times.
