The Farmers’ engineer

21 Sep , 2016

The adverse weather conditions over the past few months have brought torrential rain to this country, resulting in heavy flooding in the majority of counties.

Farms and dwellings close to river banks have been hit particularly hard and with no insurance company willing to compensate these people, they must take every precaution necessary to keep the damage to the minimum.

As we all know flooding can cause horrendous damage to buildings, outhouses and indeed land in general as it takes months for the recovery to take place.

Pumps and power generators often play a huge part in the farming industry as not only are they needed in a time of crisis, but for every day work also.
There are many makes and types of water and wastewater pumps as well as power generators on the market, but there is a company that provides not only the top brands, but also a wealth of experience in the industry.

Enniskillen based JF Andrews Engineering have been providing solutions for Power Generation, Water and Wastewater Pumping, Water and Wastewater Treatment for 60 years. The company supplies leading brands in its field of expertise including Grundfos Pumps, Atlas Copco and Power Generation.

JF Andrews Engineering has built up a reputation for providing a reliable and efficient service to its ever-expanding customer base. The company has a well-regarded and recognised brand coupled with extensive experience in design, supply, installation and commissioning of Water/Wastewater Pumping, Treatment and Power Generation Plant.

For this month’s edition of Irish Tractor, we speak to the company’s Sales Engineer Ruairi Molloy about the service that they provide.

“As a company, we are proud to represent some of the leading Pump, Treatment and Power Generation manufacturers in the world. We stock all the leading brands and have an extensive parts department here also,” said Ruairi.

“The business has diversified over the years from when JF Andrews started off first, he was fixing washing machines and involved in some plant hire work, but he was a very innovative man and ahead of his time.”

These days General Manager Paul Gallagher and his experienced Team team deal with thousands of customers throughout the 32 counties.

JF Andrews are now well positioned and supported to provide and deliver solutions for the Water Utility Sector, Commercial, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quarry, Agricultural and Food and Beverage Industries.

“We would have customers in many sectors, but agricultural would probably be the biggest for us. We provide farmers a wide range of services and we would have a lot of repeat custom. Work is also done for domestic home owners as well as the business sector.”

Experience is a valuable commodity and Ruairi revealed that the team at JF Andrews carried that in abundance.

“We have access to an experienced team of design, Process and Technical Engineers, so that we can provide solutions for any size of Power Generation, Water and Wastewater Pumping and Water Treatment applications.

The Group has a proven track record in the Design, manufacture, supply, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of power generation, water and wastewater treatment and pumping solutions.

With regards treatments, the product range includes Water Softeners, Water Filters & Filtration, Sewage Treatment, Oil Treatment and Consumables.
New and used generators in both petrol and diesel format as well as PTO generators are also available. JF Andrews Engineering are now the official supplier of Atlas Copco’s QIS & QAS within the 32 counties.

“There are no fewer than 18 models in the QIS range and this meets the widest range of power needs. The QIS range targets a wide variety of industries including data centres, healthcare, utilities, manufacturing, retail and recreation, telecommunications, public works, governments, and transportation.”

Installation, service and repair are available on all products with service crews on the road at all times.

“We are busy enough at the moment and definitely you can see an upturn in business over the past 12 months. Our sales team is out on the road promoting the business and our products. Our list of services has increased also as the company has evolved.

“We install and maintain oil/water interceptors for new roads and car parks, while we also have forecourt separators that split water from oil, diesel, kerosene, etc.

“These are a few of the newest services that we are providing and our ability to diversify has stood us in good stead over the years.”
