Six cylinder Zetor Crystal to be unveiled at Ploughing Championships

2 Jul , 2015

One of the star attractions at the forthcoming National Ploughing Championships in September will be the new Zetor Crystal, the name being given to Zetor’s latest heavy-duty tractor – expected to be available in Ireland in both 144 and 163hp versions.

With the introduction of the Crystal, the first tractor in Zetor’s portfolio to feature a six-cylinder engine, the brand’s model ranges will increase to four as it slots in alongside the Forterra, Proxima and Major ranges.

A precise specification is expected closer to the time of arrival, however the Crystal’s high-performance Deutz engine will come equipped with 24 valves and common rail injection and according to Zetor, the engine’s constant power delivery increases productivity and lowers fuel consumption.

Transmission will be provided through 30 forward and 30 reverse speeds with the help of a three-stage torque multiplier (PowerShift), a hydraulic reverser (PowerShuttle) and a clutch button on the shift lever (PowerClutch).

Other features will include an extended wheelbase of 2,840 mm, Zetor’s HITCHTRONIC system, a spacious cab reducing noise to 73dB, suspended cab and axle, sunroof and stand out red wheels – a feature which Zetor plans to gradually extend to its full product range.

Describing the new Crystal as a ‘hard working’ machine, Zetor National Sales Manager, Will Doyle said that tractors from the Crystal range will be ‘the strongest machines in Zetor’s product offering, characterised by their power, durability and effectiveness, which will appeal to owners of larger farms’.
