Optimising fertiliser applications central to Origin Fertilisers’ LAMMA debut

3 May , 2022

Origin Fertilisers will make its debut at LAMMA 2022 showcasing the advice and support it offers to farmers and growers to help them make the best use of any fertiliser, which is of utmost importance this year due to increasing input costs.

Central to Origin’s stand 11.200 in Hall 11 will be its portfolio of NUE-TRITION® products aimed at increasing nitrogen use efficiency (NUE). This includes Digest-It, a liquid microbial inoculant that increases nitrogen recovery after application of slurries and digestates.

Farmers will be aware of the pressure on them to reduce ammonia emissions that are associated with spreading slurry and digestate. Adding an inoculant before spreading can reduce these losses and convert the nitrogen within the slurry or digestate into more readily crop available forms.

The benefits of Digest-It include reducing the time to agitate and pump slurry as the microbes and dormant aerobic bacteria in the slurry can feed on and break down organic matter, this also helps to reduce surface crusting.

Advantages at plant level include converting solid manure into plant-available liquid nutrients that can be readily taken up and used by the growing crops.

Alongside Digest-It, Origin will be sharing prescription fertiliser trial results that include a 20% live weight gain while applying 15% less nitrogen; the benefits of adding sodium to nitrogen to increase grass sugar content; and how adding manganese to a spring barley fertiliser gave an 8.2% increase in NUE.
