Kerry Tractors – for all your Massey Ferguson needs

15 Oct , 2018

Established in 2000, Kerry Tractors Ltd has earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of Massey Ferguson tractors and equipment. The company stocks a huge range of new and used tractors and farm machinery, and also provides great savings on servicing and parts.

When it comes to selling tractors in Ireland, Massey Ferguson has no equal. It was the number one tractor brand in the country once again in 2017, with 18,021 licenced. Its nearest rival was John Deere with 11,821 tractors licenced.

“Irish farmers have had a special affinity with Massey Ferguson going back generations and we’re proud to represent them here in Kerry,” says Don Holland of Kerry Tractors Ltd.

“We’re full line dealers for Massey Ferguson which basically means we cater for everything to do with the brand. Not only do we stock the full range of Massey tractors, we also supply their loaders, mowers, rakes, tedders, balers and material-handling equipment.

“In recent years, Massey Ferguson has acquired Laverda combine harvesters and Lely grass equipment, which has given our customers greater choice than ever. In addition, we’re agents for Krone, AMAZONE and Rossmore Engineering to name but three.”

Part of the AGCO Corporation, Massey Ferguson is one of the biggest names in farm machinery throughout the world with a 150-year history and heritage that confirms its leading role in global agriculture. Massey Ferguson retails its products in over 140 countries through a network of over 5,000 dealers. As well as a world-beating product line, Massey Ferguson’s strength is rooted in the long-held philosophy of providing customers with much more than just a machine. A comprehensive range of support services ensures owners and operators benefit from the best possible advice and guidance before buying, and the best possible back-up once they have made their decision.

There is something in the Massey Ferguson tractor range to suit everyone. The MF3600 Series consists of rugged power and quick, agile manoeuvrability. These tough little machines, which range from 76 to 102HP, have been designed to tackle the widest range of agricultural, specialist and municipal tasks simply, cost-effectively and in a spacious, comfortable working environment.

The MF5600 Series offers a choice of three different models, designed on a practical range of powers. The compact, pioneering 85 to 105HP, 3.3 litre three-cylinder engines are fitted to all models.

The MF5700S Series 100-130HP takes a step forward as the sector benchmark for engine power, visibility, versatility and extreme reliability in all conditions. With its upgraded design, high performance and driveline, high levels of comfort and wide choice of equipment and options, it’s the ultimate go-anywhere, do-anything tractor.

Moving further up the scale, the new MF6700S Series 120-200HP blends all the benefits of a four-cylinder machine – compact dimensions, low overall weight and good manoeuvrability, with the pulling, pushing and lifting power to match a comparable six-cylinder tractor. The MF6700S was winner of ‘Machine of the Year 2017’.

The new top-of-the-range MF7700S Series, which ranges from 140 to 280HP, has been specially designed to meet the needs of farming professionals, whatever their business environment and operations, from mixed farming to arable and contracting businesses. With a wide choice of power, transmissions, cab specifications, hydraulics and PTO options, the MF7700 can be adapted to your every demand.

So which tractors are proving popular with farmers in Kerry? Don replies: “Dairy men are opting for the 120-130HP 5712 and 5713 models with front loaders. The 6713, 6714 and 6715 130-150HPs are a firm favourite with dairy farmers who mow their own grass. And then you have the 7715, 7716 and 7718 models, which are 150HP upwards, and are especially popular with agri contractors.”

He continues: “We had a very busy end to 2017 and start to 2018, but then the bad weather slowed things down a bit. Farmers choose Massey because of their outstanding reputation for quality and aftersales, and excellent second-hand value. We have customers who change every three-to-four-years which means we always have a supply of good second-hands. The finance options available from AGCO Finance makes the full range of Massey Ferguson tractors and machinery more affordable.

“We carry an extensive range of spare parts for all Massey Ferguson tractors and other machinery well sell, with overnight supply links from warehouses in the UK and Europe. We provide full service back-up for all of our tractors and machinery, carried out by our fully qualified technicians.”

Kerry Tractors Ltd also holds the Krone, AMAZONE, Rossmore Engineering, Quicke, Trioliet diet feeding systems, Alo, Prodig attachments and and Quad-X franchises. Krone are leading manufacturers of mower conditioners, disc mowers, rotary tedders and rakes, forage wagons and balers / wrappers, the AMAZONE range consists of fertiliser spreaders, sprayers, pneumatic seed drills, cultivators, land rollers and rotary harrows, while Rossmore Engineering manufacture everything from front loaders to slurry tankers.

In addition, Kerry Tractors is also a stockist for SIP power tools and accessories, Draper tools and Castrol agricultural oils.

Before setting up Kerry Tractors 18 years ago, Don had a Massey Ferguson dealership in Limerick. In fact, he’s been associated with the brand since he left school.

“I come from a farming background in West Cork,” explains the affable dealer, whose father Sean was a prominent member of the IFA, or NFA as it was then known.

“After obtaining my Green Cert from Darrara Agricultural College in Clonakilty, I went to train as a technician at the Massey Ferguson Training Centre in Stoneleigh near Coventry. I travelled the world with Massey and have been involved with them ever since.”

Married to Philomena, Don is joined in the family-run business by his daughter Tina and five other staff. Kerry Tractors is in a great location beside the Kingdom Co-Op Mart and the NCT Centre on the northside of Tralee.

“We’re on the doorstep of the dairy and tillage farming community in North Kerry,” says Don, who concludes by thanking his many customers for their continued support and loyalty.
