Dolan Agri Services – one of the best in the west

4 Feb , 2019

Specialising in silage making, baling, slurry spreading and hedge cutting, Dolan Agri Services is a one-stop shop for all your agricultural contracting needs.

Brothers James and Billy Dolan founded the business in 2002 and have since built up a large customer-base within a 15-mile radius of their base in Clonfert, which is about halfway between Ballinasloe and Portumna in east Co. Galway. Committed to providing a top-class service, Dolan Agri Services has an array of machinery to carry out your work quickly and efficiently, providing you with value-for-money and an alternative to investing in your own expensive equipment.

The contractor’s success can be attributed to the knowledge, skill and expertise of the brothers, as well as the quality of the machinery they use. In short, the Dolan’s deliver the value and quality farmers expect from their agricultural contracting partner.

“We started the business in 2002 and thankfully haven’t looked back since. We have grown our customer-base through hard work and substantial investment. In this business, you have to be available and ready to go all the time or you won’t survive,” Billy says.

“Agri contracting is a tough business at the best of times and you’re at nothing if you don’t have good customers. It’s a business that claims a lot of casualties.”

The brothers run a modern fleet of seven New Holland tractors consisting of three T7200s, two TM120s, a TM155 and a T6080. They also have a Ford 8210 which has a Wakely saw machine permanently attached to it. Other plant / equipment operated by Billy and James include a John Deere 7700 silage harvester, John Deere front and back mowers (313 and 331), a Krone Big M mower, a Volvo L90 loading shovel, one Dooley and two Kane silage trailers, Fella and Krone rakes, a Krone tedder, three McHale round balers (F5500, Fusion 2 and Fusion 3 Plus), a McHale bale wrapper, two NC slurry agitators, two Belmac slurry tankers, a SlurryKat umbilical system, two McConnel hedge cutters (2050 and 6570T) and a Conor rear discharge spreader.

“We cover an area taking in Clonfert, Eyrecourt and the surrounding areas,” Billy explains.

“We retain long-term customers by offering a professional, reliable, clean and value-for-money service. The personal touch goes a long way in this business.”

All machines are maintained and upgraded regularly to avoid breakdowns and downtime. While most maintenance and repair works are carried out in-house, Dolan Agri Services can fall back on Templetuohy Farm Machinery, Tom Shaw Farm Machinery, Hogan Tractors and DH Farm Machinery for the trickier repairs and spare parts.

There is no such thing as a quiet time for the Dolan’s who will literally work around the clock during peak times to keep their clients happy.

“We work from January right through to December. Our umbilical system allows us to start the slurry earlier than we used to. We’re busy all year around,” Billy continues.

Dolan Agri Services would like to take this opportunity to thank their customers for their support and look forward to providing them with the same great service for many more years to come.
