Danso Machinery are a cut above the rest

13 May , 2019

Established in May 2010, Danso Machinery Ltd is a family-run business serving the needs of the agriculture, horticulture, groundcare and domestic sectors. The Co. Wexford-based company supplies a range of products, including flail mowers, hedge cutters, grass toppers, ploughs, trailers, slurry tankers, ride-on mowers and log splitters, and is an agent for leading brands such as Rinieri, John Deere, Kubota,  and Fleming.

The name ‘Danso’ comes from the first three and two letters of Daniel and Sophie, who are son and daughter of managing director Graeme Chapman. Holder of an Agri Business degree, Graeme had worked in the landscaping industry for a decade before setting up the company and as a result has a wealth of practical knowledge on all the products that he supplies.

The aim of the business is to supply the best products on the market and to provide the best possible backup service. Danso Machinery Ltd has gone from strength to strength over the past eight years by providing products and a level of service that is second to none.

“We have our own Danso brand as well as products from other well-known brands. We acquired the franchise for John Deere tractor mowers seven years ago and the other agencies followed after that. We’re the leading supplier of John Deere tractor mowers in the south-east. Machinery sales into the agri sector has now become our main business and it is this area that we see the biggest opportunity for growth.  We received a lot of enquiries on the back of our appearance at last September’s National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore,” Graeme explains.

Based in Clohamon, Bunclody (opposite Slaney Meats), Danso Machinery Ltd have been sole distributors in Ireland for Rinieri flail mowers and hedge cutters since 2012. It also distributes Rinieri products through Deane Farm Machinery in Dunmanway, Co. Cork and Sheridan Machinery in Arva, Co. Cavan. An Italian company which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020, Rinieri manufactures a range of 70 machines with more than 250 models which are developed using Cad 3D and engineering calculations. The company employs 50 staff at its production facility in Forli and sells 1,700 machines worldwide each year.

“Rinieri is a top brand,” Graeme points out.

“Our sales of Rinieri flail mowers have increased significantly over the last few years. We have sold between 60 and 70 new Rinieri flail mowers in each of the last two years. We do a lot of demonstrations and it’s become our best-selling brand. Rinieri have 30 different types of flail mowers for different applications. Their products are ideal for clearing rushes and scrub. Rinieri may not be the cheapest, but their products are very well manufactured and are the best on the market.”

Most of the products stocked by Danso Machinery are suited to small or compact tractors, including Danso’s own range. These include rotavators which are up to six-feet wide, finishing mowers which are up to eight-feet wide and wood chippers.

Sales of Fleming, Kubota, and John Deere products are also brisk. With over 150 years of agri engineering experience, Fleming is one of the leading manufacturers of slurry tankers, trailers, grass toppers, muck spreaders, front loaders and other agricultural equipment with a dealer network that covers Ireland and the UK as well as mainland Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Fleming machines and dealers are supported through a well-stocked spare parts department, offering a prompt and efficient service.

Kubota are leaders in small diesel engines and professional groundcare machinery. Their groundcare product range has grown to include walk behind mowers, ride-on mowers, turn mowers, out front mowers, compacts tractors and ATVs (Utility Terrain Vehicles). The Japanese company has recently developed a portfolio of agricultural tractors, front loaders and agricultural machinery. It’s a measure of the quality of these high horsepower tractors that warranties of up to five years are available.

John Deere ride-on mowers are also built to last. Danso Machinery Ltd have some great offers on new John Deere stock, with special low-rate finance available over three years.

In addition, the family business specialises in supplying new and used diesel mowers and compact tractors.

“We only source main brands that are reliable and trustworthy. We can supply used tractors up to 100hp, but usually they are between 20hp and 60hp,” Graeme continues.

“Our range of products are increasing all the time. They have been engineered to the highest possible standard and offer exceptional value-for-money. Our job is to sell the right machine to the right person. Quality and back-up service are key. We also guarantee that parts in stock will be delivered within 24 hours of the order going in.

“Sales are increasing year-on-year. Our customers range from commercial contractors, farmers and stud farms to the OPW, local authorities and domestic customers. We have customers from Dingle to Donegal.”

Graeme considers himself lucky to have a good team around him. Assisting him with the day-to-day running of the business is sales manager James Kavanagh and Paul Hayden and Joe Browne, who PDI machines and carry out repairs and maintenance in Danso’s well-equipped workshop.

The affable managing director would like to take this opportunity to thank his customers for their continued support.
