A ‘cradle to grave’ service for your business

10 Jul , 2015

The Hi-Volt Group is a successful Co. Tipperary-based company specialising in batteries and recycling. It has the distinction of being the only battery wholesaler in Ireland that has a fully licensed and permitted recycling company – Hi-Volt Recycling Ltd – within the group.

Supplying premium automotive batteries since 1998, Hi-Volt was established in Thurles by Richard Gleeson and John Fahey, who had known each other since their days in the local Vocational School. The two continue to head up the company’s growth and expansion with over 20 staff being employed at its Thurles headquarters as well as in retail outlets in Dublin, Belfast and Limerick.

Passionate about quality and committed to providing a reliable service, the Hi-Volt Group offers a unique approach to both battery sales and recycling. The company has designated experts in each area who are available to offer customers advice when they need it.

As battery specialists, Hi-Volt only sells battery-related products and has thus built up expertise and knowledge that is unsurpassed and unrivalled within the industry.

Hi-Volt Recycling is one of the largest lead acid battery recycling companies in the country. It also recycles cooper and other automotive waste such as catalytic converters and tyres. Hi-Volt are fully WEEE compliant and are proud to be the only distributor who can offer an in-house recycling service. As an ISO 9001-certified company, quality is always assured.

“We are the only company in Ireland that offers a ‘cradle to grave’ service for batteries,” Richard Gleeson points out.

“We sell batteries and take them back when they’ve reached the end of their lives. We got into battery recycling eight years ago and it proven to be a very successful move for us. The batteries are recycled using the best available technology at our EPA-permitted facility. We also recycle non-ferrous metals, including copper, lead, brass and aluminium, and catalytic converters, offering the best prices for them.”

In addition, Hi-Volt is the only battery distributor in Ireland which offers an in-house battery testing facility, having recently invested in the region of €100,000 in testing equipment. It is also company policy to ensure that all batteries are fully charged before they are sold to the customer.

Hi-Volt’s three main customers are the motor factors, tyre replacement and tractor spares markets. It was the first company to introduce 667 high-cranking batteries to Ireland four years ago and is an agent for Probox and Ampac batteries.

If you want more from your battery, including longer lifespan, greater efficiency, OE specifications and extra power and performance, then the Probox range is ideal. Hi-Volt maintains an ethos of protecting the environment by sourcing batteries manufactured according to ISO environmental standards. The Probox range is sourced globally to meet the specific needs of the Irish market.

Hi-Volt’s high level of commitment to the customer, both pre- and post-sale, as well as the environment and technology, is reflected in its product range of batteries. This range was developed using Calcium Calcium technology, ensuring OE specifications are met and the Environment is protected.

If you want power, reliability, performance and durability from your vehicle’s battery, whatever its make or model, then the Ampac range of batteries from Hi-Volt is for you. The Ampac range utilises the latest technology and, like Probox, is manufactured to the highest standard under strict environmental control to offer a superb product that won’t let you down.

This premium range is sourced globally from OE suppliers and is made using Calcium Calcium technology, which meets and exceeds OE specifications. Customers who buy from the Ampac high quality range can be sure of a high-performing battery made to OE Specification, and that the manufacturing process at all times protects the environment.
